Just make damn sure it's lower or flush like IJ said ;)
The missing HG material should help....I'd put a bead of RTV across the top of the timing plate.
theres no way it could be higher as the block is new and the deck is used....the sad thing is, mike (previous owner of the car) said it was put together by some guy what has been working at toyota for 25+ years....ill have put some rtv on and hope for the best. worst case, im back where i started and have to pull the head....might as well try this as i wanna go to the photoshoot the local car club is having....

Personally I'd pull the head but that's just me, my reasoning is the Timing case gaskets are longer than a fresh block and need to be trimmed flush once the case is installed.

Combine that with you're trying to Seal both the front of the Pan and the underside of the head with RTV when sliding the case into place makes the chance of a 100% leakfree seal not good.... :(

ok so its all back together i took it around the block, got up to 35 nothing rediculous.....it leaks a drop of oil every few seconds or so....nothing like before..but i think its leaking from the oil pan, not between the head and timing cover...Thanks god!!
