No problem. Your best bet would be to try to return it to the supplier, and save for the ATI unit, which is well worth the price. :)

...since nobody has mentioned WHY the obx is so bad, I guess I might as well...

Basically, without the harmonic dampening ability, you'll shake the motor apart, plain and simple.

...That, and I've heard of some people warping their cranks (somehow) by using them...

Just some food for thought.

Or just put the stock one on, set the timing and then just put the obx on. Not too difficult to do on the 7mgte.

Did I miss something?

Use the OBX as a paper weight and put stock crank pulley back on.
Seriously, The OBX has no harmonic dampening ability.

Reread the thread. The timing problem is the least of his concerns.

now now, it won't kill the motor THAT fast...

It should be great for racing, but as it's not certified, they wouldn't let you run unlike the ATI unit...

Well I am not sure how much you care about your engine. A major part of the 7m's balancing method is the crank dampener. If you replace it with a " Solid aluminum " Like the OBX it is very likely you can damage your engine crank and therefore your engine. Put the stock one back on and leave it alone, if you want a crank pulley by the after market ones that still retain the dampening, you will be happy when you can drive your car, and not replacing an engine.

Stock or ATI is the only way to go.

The solid, underdrive type pullys are going to cause more problems than they solve. (And what are you looking for, more power?)

Here is a simple tip for the 7M. :) (And all turbo engines for that matter.)

Spend your money on gas flow mods.
Larger air filter.
Larger turbo.
Larger exhaust. (This is the best way to improve power on just about any turbo car.)
Port work.
Larger intercooler.
Hard pipes.
Etc.

Allow the engine to breathe better, and it's going to make WAY more power than a alloy pully will ever provide.

Think of how long the crank is in a straight six, pretty long, not many other motors have a crank longer than this type. The longer the crank, the more vibrations will occur with the slightest imbalance.

As someone once said, "The 7M's crank spins around like a wet noodle".

This is doubly so for those 6M cranks in the ealier years of the MKIII.
