So ever since i did the engine rebuilt on my mk3 i get no crank in the morning for the first 3-5 seconds, It dosnt even click which was ok with me. Now i just want to get that problem fixed because i got a remote start alarm sistem that i cant use. When the car is cooled or in the morning, it trys to crank it over and only gets a small crank at the end but not enought to start it. So what am i looking for, and what do i try doing. O and by the way it only does it that one time, and the second time, the car cranks and turns on right away. I already tryed giving it a jump to see if maybe my grounds or something need more voltege, and that didn work so i dont know what else to do.
please help thanx

Either something wrong with the engine internally (lower compression), your starter, or your starter cables.

So let me get this straight, you crank it once and it won't start, and after you try a second time, it starts?

i have to keep the key on the cranking position. Then a few seconds later i get a crank. battery is good, alternator is good, and i just put in a new starter

It sounds more like it is taking a little time for the signal to start cranking the engine. The cold start injector would do it's job after the motor starts cranking. Check your grounds and wiring. Test that you get 12+volts at the solenoid when the key is turned to the start position.

+1 on the 2 above posts...(MAYBE) and no, no and no to the ones above that...i have the exact same problem but didnt want to make a new thread over it.

the problem in more detail is that when cranking the engine, it WILL start, but takes 3-5 seconds of cranking before it fires, worse the colder it is. after the initial start, you go to the gas station or even forget something in the house, kill it, go to start it and after a couple rerh rerh and fires right up immediately.

i read that fuel pressure might be bleeding off...with the key on i dont hear the fuel pump priming, does it only pump when it gets a signal from the cps? is there a way to set it up to prime with the acc and stop...maybe a timer relay or something. my integra was weird like that, turn the key on untill the cel would turn off (fuel pump would prime and stop) and itd fire right up every time.

its my best guess but i dont have a pressure gauge to verify otherwise. ive tried disconnecting the cold start injector (thought it may be too rich...no help) when it does start and the a/f gauge starts to read it goes way rich untill its 100+ so im fairly positive the cold start is working fine.

lets get these bitches fixed...its not driving me as crazy as you im sure, i remember the remote start i used to have would only crank for 2-3 seconds and stop and would try 3 times before giving up...thats gotta drive you insane

i know man..lol whats the point on having a remote start if you can only use it when the car is warm...thanx though ill get that checked out im suppost to drop it to my mecanic next week.. it looks like its wasting to much gas. running to rich.

let me know what he finds. im about to get a fuel pressure gauge just to diagnose the bleed back issue, but ive only read one person that said it so im not just going to go get my 255 pump just yet, other things are in order first
