No crank after idling for a while

Well I had to run up to my parents' house tonight. I pulled up in the driveway and just let it run because I wasn't planning on being there for longer than 10 minutes. Well, I got distracted as usual by my mother and an hour went by. I went outside and realized I forgot to shut it off, I checked the gauges and everything looked fine. I shut it off. Went inside for a few minutes then left.

I tried to start it and it wouldn't crank. The radio and everything was on, and it seemed like it had good power. But when I turned the key it did absolutely nothing. I can't find anything about this. Any ideas?

No corrosion. I just gave it a quick once over for anything obvious before I got somebody to give me a ride home. I'll check for tightness when I get to look at it, hopefully Friday.

Sounds kinda weird that it wouldn't start up after an hour of just idle, if it isn't the terminals being loose, test the battery, it may be possible that the prolonged idle drained the battery.

i actually pulled close to the exact same thing on my cressida ifound out that my alternator wasn't charging properly also try replacing the leads on the battery terminals that is if you have the stock ones they have gone bad on every supra i have owned when they go bad they will allow every thing to turn on radio fuel pump etc. but the second you try to start you get a clunk and then the car goes black hopes this long winded back draft helps

The alternator was my next guess, but for his sake and the Supra im hoping its just the battery. I too had also come across that problem on a previous Supra i owned, but that car is a different story. It was safe to label it under FUBAR back in the day..

Ok, I'm officially wierded out. I just tried starting it up and she fired up just fine. So, until next time. Thanks for the input guys.

This is a pretty common complaint, no crank when hot. Usually caused by high resistance in the starter trigger wire in the harness. Theres a thread on here about adding a relay to fix the problem. Next time it doesnt start, run a jumper from the positive terminal to the trigger spade on the starter and see if it cranks over
