I recently picked up a 1988 supra for roughly $350, now givin the price, the car is going to have some problems, the major problem is there is no compression on cylinders 1&2, now i am aware head gaskets blow pretty easy on these engines, i was wondering if this was the problem, or if it isn't , what it is and how to fix it, i am also missing a banjo bolt out of a fuel line running to the top of the engine, i was wondering where i could pick one of these up.

hmmmm...well considering its a toyota then well maybe a toyota dealer would be a good place to get the banjo bolt.......call me crazy??????????

and to fix a headgasket....you just simply fix it...

Common sense and the search function are useful tools!!!!

To lose both cylinders at once is a pretty clear indication of a BHG. Check your oil dipstick to see if there is water in the oil but that's most likely what it is. It's a pretty straight forward operation to replace, look around there is at least one write-up detailing the process. And the banjo bolt can be acquired at a dealer.

Just how little compression are you seeing on those cylinders.

Did you do a second compression test with oil added to the cylinder?

Depends what's wrong with it... a good place to start with helping us help you would be to answer our questions (well, not everyone's... for example if someone asked for your shoe size... I could really care less and it won't usually effect an engine anyway).

If it's just the HG and you wanted to cheap out in a major way it can be done for a few hundred... If you've got a cracked block or two pistons with holes, or two rods that are so far gone they're not moving anything then you're looking at a lot more...

So, let's try this again... How much compression is "no compression"? :3d_frown:

Interesting.. how'd you come up with there being no compression in #'s 1 and 2? Thumb in the spark plug hole? Or, my personal favorite, by blowing in with a straw?

Just kidding. See what the compression looks like both dry and wet and then you can decide from the numbers. If you don't have the money to do a thorough HG job it *can* be done inexpensively, but I don't recommend it.
