This kind of thread is what gives message boards bad names. Like watching someone drop a hammer on your balls in slo-mo.:3d_frown:

Mista- go shim your wastegate and make sure your HKS bov is working correctly(as in not staying open when youre trying to build boost). After that go work on your gramer n spelin.

gramer n spelin? that was a bad joke right?

anyways... so your car runs, drives, and goes up to ohh... 60mph just fine right?
and judgeing from your lack of knowledge, you DO have the intercooler pipes all hooked up leading from the turbo ===> intercooler ===> pipes through fender well to 3000 pipe to throttle body, and where is your HKS bov located anyways?

and i say post up pics of your engine so we can see wtf your working on.

It seems like you need both

Like I said- your wg might be opening prematurely so you need to shim it to keep the spring tight. If your pipes are good, as you said, then the only other place you could leak boost is your bov, intake header, fuel inj. seals, or the runners between the in. header and the head. Since everything besides bov and wg spring is rare, I said check your bov and wg spring for proper operation.

I was trying to help you in every way you need helping

Yeah, and you're contributing to that slo-mo hammer... :nono:

So you want him to shim his wastegate if he has a potentially large boost leak? If you don't know, keep your mouth shut. That's a fantastic way to overspin the turbo and kill it. He can make sure his BOV is working with a vacuum pump, for Christ's sake; there's no need to shim the wastegate, thus making his problem even WORSE.

No again. Listen, unless you physically diagnosed his wastegate as a failed unit, seriously keep your mouth shut. What about all the intercooler pipes? Those are the most common places for boost leaks: 1) right off the bottom of the turbo, 2) the coupler between the 3000 pipe and throttle body. The IC pipes are 20ish year old rubber, what makes you think that it's impossible for them to leak?

The enlarged statement is complete and utter lack of knowledge. :nono:

Sometimes the best way of trying to help is keeping your mouth shut. Try it.

How long has this problem existed? I didn't see you mention that.
I have lost boost over the period of about two weeks- went from 13psi to 6psi
due to a blocked cat. If you had a boost leak big enough to keep you at 2-3 psi, then you might be able to hear it- it'll sound like a bunch of wooshing air, but you get no acceleration. Also, I would expect it might run rough in general if the leak is that bad.

There are so many more things to check before going through all that work. Diagnosing a problem does not entail throwing parts at the car until it's fixed!

so i checked the wg and the actuator was bad. changed it and i am getting about 2 mabe 3 psi of boost. so i am getting some where, just not fast. i think it is a boost leak but i can't find it and like you said i would like to find and solve the problem before i do anything else. so i am still checking on it. thanks for all the help every body.

ok...my two cents..

you said you were getting 2-3psi before..so not much progress sorry.

are you hitting fuel cut?? bad boost leak i think you would hit fuel cut..please correct me.

DO have codes!

when did this happen..some detail. did it loose power!?! explain.

finally if everything checks out..you said you hear the bov when you change gears..maybe you gauge is whats fucked!

i dunno this thread does seem very..whats that word. keep us updated.

I got a MKIII with a 7mgte with no boost too. Ok first i have read and done most everything you have told him to do and i have the same issue. i can drive at 2k rpm(ish) in every gear and if i stay out of boost it will act like an NA car. If i give full throttle then my car still goes like it is NA and my autometer boost guage just reads 0 never more, then wen i let off i blow black smoke(ie too much gas) for a little while. All other guages still read as if i was running normal other then my oil pressure which is just above 5 so I have parked it. I know it is not a boost leak i have have checked every coupler and used a boost leak tester kit,and my BOV is fine. I cant hear my turbo spool at all which if it is a bad turbo it should still spool just not very well, right? SO IDK where to go now...any help.

PS mod list

HKS turbo timer
2.5in hardpiping
precision intercooller
custom 2.5in 3000 pipe with Greddy Type S BOV (recirculated)
Racing Vac hose swap
Custom intake pipe
K&N air filter
MBC
Optima red top with 4g leads and extra grounds
um nothing else engine wise that i can think of
