If the turbo was started up without oil, it could have damaged the berings severly shortining the life of the turbo.

Those turbos startup and spin pretty fast generating a fair amout of heat if they don't have any oil.

But would it have shortened the life of my CT down to a couple of months?

I just wanna make sure its not something that if I get another turbo it will seize it up again.

The potential for it to happen is there, yes, depending on how long it took oil pressure to reach the turbo.

All variables that depend on how long the engine had sat before running, what the outside temp was, and what viscosity oil you use. If the weather was cold, and you had a thick oil, and the oil pump had to re-prime all the oil passage ways. The turbo could conceivably be sitting there turning at several thousand RPM for a few seconds before seeing any oil.

UPDATE!!!!

Took the turbo off.:3d_frown: That was the most frustrating problem Ive ever had to deal with on my supra. It took me like all day, and Im not one with patience. I never knew how difficult it really was until I tackled it on my own. Hope I never have to do that again.....

Okay, now that the turbo is off, Im still confused on why this couldve happened. If it was because I didnt prime my turbo, then I guess its "live and learn", but I really wanna narrow it down to that before I buy another turbo and have the same problem occur. Im planning on getting the 57 trim upgrade w/ stainless oil lines, just in case it was my lines(and also I feel that they will be much easier to remove in the future). Should I just get a new turbo on there and blame the death of this one due to not priming it?

btw- does anyone know who makes the ss line kit for the CT?

Thanks guys for all your help!

Yeah, the lines are off right now, and I will check to see if they are clogged tomorrow. Today has been a long one. How do I determine if theres anything wrong with the center housing? Do I need to take the turbo apart or what? What should I be looking for that would confirm it was a faulty rebuild?

Thanks
Brandon

Are either of the turbines dug into the housing or off center? maybe a bent/warped shaft? something is holding it from turning, just gotta find out what.

Pull the housings off and see if it turns, id say since its fucked either way, pull the nut off the compressor side and try to slide the shaft out.
