no boost in 1st?

theres a supra im really interested in the thing is it wont boost in first only 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th also it only boosts at high rpm ..is this a surious problem how can it be fixed if it is?

well in 2nd gear i saw the boost pressure go up slowly to 5psi at 5000 rpm

yeah you definitely have a boost leak, you should be seeing boost in the 2-3k rpm range on a stock car

I don't really hit much boost in first either though, mostly because it seems like I run through it so fast.

Does the pressure drop after you do hit the boost, like stay constant while it's actually boosting? I'd check the turbo also but I would think a boost leak also

the boost stays constant actually ..the owner has no idea why its like this.. he said its been like this since he bought the car so yea i am going to low ball the hell out of him

Is it stock?? If it is then more than likely its the 2 cats causing lots of back pressure preventing the turbo from boosting any further. Could have a weak wastegate spring not alowing anymore boost as well.

boost leaks are pretty audible and you'd probably be able to tell if you had one.

yea the car is stock i think he said it had a k&n air filter though the ones you just drop into the airbox

i would say to go in the engine bay do you hear any hissing noises or anything?

yes, I hear a hissing noise in my car in first and less in second gear, can't really hear it at all in 3rd and up... So i know i have a boost leak, but how do I locate the spot that it's leaking from?
