NGK Powerdex AFX-Air Fuel Ratio Monitor

Has anyone used this wideband air/fuel ratio monitor?

How well does it work? How accurate is it? I heard the display may react slowly?

I am between NGK or the AEM UEGO and leaning towards NGK.

I would like to get some feedback before I order one.

i love the NGK wideband. i have it now and it works great. it updates pretty quick and is very easy to calibrate. installation is very easy as well. this is the second one i have used. i had it in my 87 that i sold. the display is a little bright though, at night it can be distracting. but during the day, is very asy to read. it also shows you from 9 all the way to 16 afr's. i think most of them only display as low as 10. i'm not sure.

Had mine for a few years now and have compared it to a few high end MoTeC PLM's on various dyno's and it's always spot on. (actually more accurate than the M800 WB )

IJ....I read in the forum that you keep your Sensor connected all the time.
How long have you had yours or have you had to replace it?

I checked out the online manual and it reports a decreased lifespan if connected 24/7.

I do plan keeping the sensor connected so I can keep tabs of the A/F ratio all the time.

I wouldn't want to spend 120 bucks on a replacement sensor though.

Not for anything but every single new vehicle in the US, has a wideband or two connected to the engine. They are connected 24/7

Usually based on the Bosch LSU 4.2 and some newer cars carry the Bosch LSU 4.9.

Where did you mount your display?

Im thinking about the steering wheel column as the center dash area is filled with other goodies.

LSU 4.2's x2 here in use 24/7 for 2+ years now on the same sensors

1 carbon'd up a bit during the LPG fuel system development and was throwing an error (reading stoich at all times) I burnt it off with the Oxy torch and it's been fine since.

I mounted the display in the AC vent closest to the dash above the AC controls.

I killed a sensor in about a year. It finally died when trying to tune my friends car... the car was in safemode the sensor was all fouled up from 9.XX AFR's.

I'll have to try IJ's trick with the O Torch

Same guy that designed the MoTeC PLM had a hand in this it just doesn't have the 300 adjustment options of the MoTeC unit (and the price)

true that... if IJ cant break it, then you know somebody did there job! and if its lasted 2 years!!! goddd damn! they did something really right.
