I bought my maroon 88 turbo targa new and upgraded to HKS boost control, fuel control and FCD in '90... then HKS MLS, of course. Suspension = Eibach 1" drop springs and HKS shocks, HKS 65 mm catback & been driving it thus ever since (on nice days). 23 to 25 mpg @ 90mph on hwy 5; San Jose to Long Beach nonstop - great car!
Now down for HG leak - block & crank back from machinist yest. Had a _very_ difficult time finding a competent machinist!
Bore had NO wear at 90k & hone marks undisturbed - no ridge at top of cylinders, bearings pristine. Mobile 1.............
I've read _every_ BHG thread on here that 'search' came up with.
This time, Cometic HG, mirror-finish head & deck (ie, #10 diamond lap), new Clevite bearings & PC rings. DP upgrade now, hi-flow cat & 3" exhaust soon.
Been hotrodding since 1962....guess I'll never learn..........
