So Cal
First of all I would like to thank werewolves182 aka TIM for letting me have the starter!
Thank you, you are a life saver!
Today we put the starter and the MAF on the Supra...
IT TOOK US 8 HOURS TO DO!!!
HAHA not bad for the first time I suppose...
Any ways we took the car around the block the car starts up nicely and idles great and my previous of symptoms of black smoke and dieing on me when you let go od the gas pedal are gone now =D
But we noticed that the boost gauge was at zero not at -4 like it usually is.
When we would punch the gas a lil the boost would not move and the check engine light goes on and the turbo has hesitation and kind of sounds funny.
NOt like a lil plane it just dosn't sound like it is running at full power.
Another thing with that is that the oil gauge is not reading very well either...
Did I blow a fuse?
Does anyone have any idea of what this could be?
i will be checking my codes later today because that job was agravating

P.S. I know the turbo is not bad because I bought it several months ago with only 100,000 miles on it and it ran good it also ran good when we ran it with the bad AFM so this really puzzles me.

sounds like a vacuum leak on the turbo.. how is your accordian hose? 300k miles on a accordian hose will crack and dry out severely. theres only 80k on my hose and its trashed. After that, just track vacuum lines and make sure everythings connected.

300k miles on a supra, im impressed. keep up the good maintenence!

Well thats the thing, I don't see how it can be a vaccum leak since i replaced the turbo and the one I got now has only 100,000 miles on it but then again yours has 80K

if i am reading correctly, you did not understand Nomad707. A boost leak can be any amount of air(or boost) leaking from your turbo piping all the way to the intake manifold. things you can do are inspect all of the piping and/or connectors going from the turbo to the intercooler, and intercooler to the intake manifold. also you can start the car and listen for air hissing indicating that air is leaking. hope this helps

^^^ Yup. I had a small vacuum line pop loose near my firewall and it did the same exact thing as yours Suprasteve. Start the car, pop the hood and start listening for the hiss.

Thank you I think that is where the hose is disconnected because we atually had to lie on the engine to do our starter and we where by the fire wall area alot we don't have the tools so we did what we had to do :naughty:
So i will check right now! Thanks

Glad it was just something small like that. I've have vacuum hoses pop off several times (standard sized hoses and not metric like it should of had on it) so I knew what it was as soon as you said it. Any idea where you can buy those little metal rings that clamp down on vacuum hoses and takes needle nose pliers to get them off?
