You will do anything to find torque!!!!:biglaugh:

Looks like $450 well spent Jay if it is what it claims to be. Mabey one of our Sm Turbo pros will chime in for you on this subject.

Actually they are a pretty big company in the DSM scene. I almost bought one of their turbos. I know a couple guys who have bought products from them and are truly happy. Really great product.

Ryan, 450.00 seems like a cheap price for fifty more foot pounds of torque. I'm waiting on the specialist though. My turbo is ball bearing and I want to make sure this turbo is going to be just as reliable as my gt35r.

They dont refer to a different type of wheel until the end of the sales pitch and they certainly dont tell you what type of wheel they put in it. They have rebranded it a "HTA" compressor wheel.... So WHAT is it? We all know that they arent making their own wheels. Only a few companies like Garrett, BorgWarner, Ching Chang Chow, are making them. Big companies like PT, Turbonetics and SP use Garrett wheels and name the turbo because they have their own custom mix/match of housings and maybe wheels.

It sounds like they just put a different compressor housing on it with anti-surge deletion. A lot of companies do that with their turbos to increase spool. This isnt a unique thing really.... You can get housings from a few different companies with the "anti-surge delete" that may bolt right on to your turbo. Then you can just swap the compressor housing with it still in the car...

Thanks for the info. I like my turbo the way it is, but you all know I could use fifty more foot pounds of torque..........not that it would be enough to appease the 7m guys, but I do what I can..............:biglaugh:

I'll keep mine the way it is now, since I hardly ever get to race anyone anyways. I'll wait and see what this other guy locally finds out with his. He is going to dyno it and post the results.

I never did like snakeoil. It always leaves a bitter taste in my mouth...........:nono:

I come from a land down under
Jon: It's a magic Compressor wheel with an equally magic ported Compressor cover that makes the difference ;)
(the Garrett engineers missed this one when designing the GT series apparently)

The ends of the fins look much flatter to the incoming air so maybe this + the magic cover give the 50 ft/lbs? ;)
(only way I'd believe it is to run my own back to back dyno session)

I'm waiting on another person to get his and he is going to dyno it. His gt35r is on a 2.0 liter motor so I don't know how big a difference he's going to get. I will let you know as soon as I hear from him.

I have talked with them in person and it is a great shop! They do a lot of the big dsm guys around here. My next turbo setup will be from them!

copied this from the local forum tell me what you think of this

this explains a little bit.

this is from the evo forums.

Top left is hta35 and top right is 35r. The hta has same exducer size. The inducer is about 3mm smaller. The hub of the wheel is half the size of 35r. This makes the blades much bigger. The wheel is much lighter because so much mass was removed from the hub and inducer diameter is smaller. This coupled with there being 14 blades instead of 12 allows the turbo to spool faster and move more air sooner. The turbine shaft doesnt have to spin as fast to move X amount of air so backpressure at the turbine is reduced.

The bottom two wheels are mitsubishi 24v and 25g wheels. The 25g shares same traits as 35r, the 24v shares same traits as hta35.

wouldnt it be funny if FP threw a Borg wheel inside the 35R..

and i think its funny that the concept of Lag and 35R are in the SAME though bubble... haha! i scoff at 35R "lag"... Scoff! scoff scoff!

that HTA wheel Definitly looks like its cut on a 5-axis CNC machine, just like other Borg wheels, like the S372 that was incorporated in the SP71GTQ-HO.

also, if the HTA isnt spooling to the left of the surge/choke line, why the fuck are they making it Anti-surge??? they are costing themselves spool-time. perhaps they are doing it to tack on another $100 when it comes time to offer a "new" Anti-surge delete option.
