welcome to SM..!

this forum section is only for introductions and pics of your ride, and some info on yourself...

but, to swap in a 1JZ, you'd need a late 89-92 crossmember with motor mounts, or buy 1JZ pre 89 conversion mounts from www.bicperformance.com..

as long as you have all the wiring and necessary hardware, it's a straight forward swap...

you can swap in an r154 from a USDM 87-92 Supra Turbo with a JZ bellhousing, or if you have a w58 (non-turbo 5 speed tranny) and can get ahold of a 2JZ N/A bellhousing off an NA MKIV Supra or an SC300 itll bolt right up, however a w58 will probably hold up to 400 max (mine is holding up fine with a 7MGTE BPU), but those bellhousings are RARE...

try Kaizen at http://kaizen-hps.com/or Driftmotion at www.driftmotion.com

they're vendors on this forum...

oh for your other question about 2JZ's, it'll mount up and the same tranny's will fit with as the 1JZ with the same hardware, but wiring is MUCH harder, and the rear turbo will not fit without modification to the firewall, so most end up going single, but it's still possible to keep the stock twins, also it's MUCH more expensive.

Yeah, the 1JZ engine harness is a couple feet too short, because they were designed for RHD cars. You will have to extend the harness or relocate the ECU, Both difficult tasks.

ok thanks for all the info i looked at a 1986.5 today well it is gonna haunt my dreams it was rusted through under the driver side i could see the ground where the spare tire was just a huge whole there where no fenders to speack of and well the engine bay rusted so bad i thought the engine would fall out so im gonna look at a 1989 on friday hopefully in better shape none of these cars are running all have blow head gaskets im hoping that is just an issue with the 7m moter ?

yeah it's an issue with the 7m motor, but it also usually caused by the 7m owner..

change out the headgasket, correctly prepare the surface, and torque down using the proper lb/ft of torque, keep her full of coolant and it should outlast the car...
