Hey guys,

I cannot find my camera at the moment, but my wheels and tires got here... so I'll try to get to the track this sunday.

They're 26x10.5x16 Mickey Thompson ET street.

I've been told to start at 15psi and work my way down if need be.

What do you think?

9" width. I'm thinking now I should wait till I get a skinny up front, since this isn't a radial apparently.

Yes, skinny is a very good idea, especially if your car goes more than ~110.

On a 9" wheel, you can get away with a bit less pressure. I run 14 cold on an 8" rim with no rim screws. Mark the wheel & tire with a line to monitor tire slip on the rim if yours don't have rims scews.

These tires like a nice, long, smokey burnout too, btw. No idea WTF they say "little to no burnout" on the site for. They are usually pretty spot on with the tech advise.

I run a MT tire (same as you) on a sawblade. I ran 12psi on mine and a best 60ft of 1.52 :) Many 1.6 60's as well. (boost off the line of course) Small burnout on thsi video but I generally did bigger ones. Don't mind the waiting time. I was running a different stand alone that took for EVER to build boost. My MoTeC is much better and can't wait to test it! this video was a 1.59 60ft but I shifted too slow.

Yea, we ran into the same thing when we ran them on our drag car. They wouldn't bite until I told my driver to "go John Force" on the burnout. Damned things hook better than any other tire I've ever run once they are cooked.

Okay I'll heat them up really well.

Mike: Thanks for the link, sir. I was actually reading that site when you posted the link... don't know how I missed it.

I'm a little concerned the car will walk side to side on the track Sunday w/o skinnies. This car is going to go 100+mph in the 8th, so I'm REALLY concerned with it getting too bad.

Tomorrow I'll go drive it around and practice some launches and see how it behaves.

Duane: I like how that video is on my YouTube channel...
Did you happen to see the pictures I tried to update to you?

I'll use that psi rating as good advice, thanks!

I'd get some skinnies on the front if I were you. If it ever starts to get out of line on you, those big tires up front are a real handful. You can wind up upside down or in the wall way too easy.

Forget practicing launches for now. First thing to do is just ease the car up to about 115 and see if you shit your pants. Make sure you do this somewhere you can take up at least 3 lanes for yourself.

That's how I imagine it going wrong.
Since it's the 1/8th track, I feel confident in being able to "get out of it" and lift if it starts. (Time-wise)

I'll take plenty of video to document how the combination does.

FYI, the fronts are BFgoodrich 235-50-16 (iirc).

I got that vid from your site! :) Thanks as I couldn't find it before.
No I didn't get he pics. Send them to the same email please and we will look over them again.
I don't have skinnies but I should as it does get wavy at 130 MPH in my car. As for the 1/8, I don't think you will be running 100MPH "plus" but maybe high 90's maybe. (Maybe if you turn up the boost more than your dyno graph, Come on, you know you want to!! :naughty:)

Duane,
With 480hp I was trapping 97mph, and now I have 560hp. :) It WILL trap 100+.

I'll post video, thanks!

Do you have skinnies up front? I would start @ 18psi and work my way down only because the car will feel completley different with an et-street and it will feel like it wants to go into the other lane. Et-streets from my experience tell you where you're going.lol

Edit: just read that you dont have skinnies, be careful.

Thanks man, I will be careful... it's something I've been thinking about alot for a while. Ever since Dave Boykin told be years ago... "Never mix radials with non radials."

If I'm racing with someone else, I'll wait at the light till they go so I don't take them out if I end up getting wavy.

While we're all here:

Do I need a spacer to run the Weld skinnies up front?

F&H: What wheel combination was on your car when you posted the pictures?
I need to know what size and offset would be optimal.

Thanks.

I'm planning on getting some 15x4 draglites, with a 2.25 backspacing and from talking with Slow66 a 3/8" spacer is needed to clear the calipers.

Hey Brian,

I did some launching today and up to the top of 3rd gear and it was planted.
Didn't walk left or right, just planted.

If it's dry tomorrow, I'll give it a try at the track.
Thanks for the advice.
