Hi everyone

i just bought a 88 jdm turbo 7m-gte 5 speed 91k miles on motor 181k miles on body the PROBLEM is FUEL CUT!!! i bought the car running 10PSI

stock TUrbo stock AFM stock Injectors .. so i got a MBC to turn it down maybe that would fix the Fuel Cut but noo

Mods

1.3in exhaust
2.Turbo xs BOV
3.Turbo XS Boost Controller
4.K&N [round Filter] [stock intake pipes]
5.Boost Gauge[reads vacuum]
6.Walbro 25 fuel Pump
7. HKS Metal Head Gasket
8.ARP Bolts

NO Check Engine light:icon_bigg
NO Power Steering
NO Charcoal Canister
NO Cat Converters

the BOV is TIGHT %100 so its not leaking
THe intercooler pipes are all TIGHT no Leaks
New Coolant/Hoses/Thermostat
NEw Spark wires/PLugs
NEw OIL/Filter
93octane IT's Entire LIFE

-----my boost/vacuum gauge at idle says 20lbs of Vacuum sometimes it says 19lbs im not sure why is changes
----- the idle is high at 1,300 :nono: [ im guessing cuz of the vented BOV]
----WOT on 1st gear i think it reads like 7psi when i shirt to 2nd WOT it fuel cuts at around 4RPMs
--- every gear minus 1st gear i cant WOT only like half on the pedal which is very retard i dunno :nono:

Conclusion: i cant Run WOT 2nd-5th gear cuz of fuel cut the check engine light turns on when it hits fuel cut and 5 seconds later it turns off

-----------I NEED HELP im NEW To SUPRAs//TURBo"S

On a more serious note, build a boost leak tester and use it. Check your codes, too. You might want to check your ISC, as that could cause the idle problem and the boost leak, too.

Do a search, there are detailed instructions for everything I mentioned.

yea the guy had like 5 washers on each side of wastegate giving it more boost and on top of that the boost gauge was reading incorrect lol so im using the stock gauge and boosting 10PSi safey ....im not sure on the science of the shimming of the wastegate...some care to teach

when you shim it, it makes the spring a lot stiffer, thus making the wastegate hold the boost in longer. if he had 5 washers hes probably doing 14-16psi which is why you were hitting fuel cut... lol

you should post up some pics of the car!

Ya ill get some pics up and run:biglaugh:ning ...i have another question???:aigo:... now that the wastgate gate is normal i have an MBC, i keep turning it up till i hit fuel cut but the stock gauge says 8psi. HOW do i know exactly where the boost is ???....when i get the after market boost Gauge how much should i be running 8psi?? or 10psi??.........i have an lex AFm and a Fuel pressure regulator that im going to install when i get a day off.... i just wanna know how much PSI i can go with right now cuz right now it's at 8psi

i wouldnt install the lex afm until you get 550's. there are HORROR stories of people running lean and blowing up! my friend melted his piston due to this...

lex + 550 = a ok!
les + 450 = not ok! (unless you have a wideband and a fuel tuning device)

and just get an aftermarket gague, and make sure you have the nipple off of the turbo side hooked up to the port on the bov where the ball is, and then the other port to the wastegate... and 10-12psi is what most run, which i doubt you'll notice over your 8psi...

without proper supporting mods you won't be able to tell much of a difference from 8 to 10+PSI. Obviously that guy who owned it before you pushed the CT beyond its normal operating boost levels which cuts down lifespan quickly.

BTW, for future knowledge: Fuel cut IS NOT how much boost you're running, its a given level of air flow at which your AFM reports back to the computer. The more air flow, the closer you are to fuel cut, the more boost, the more air flow. You may hit fuel cut at 16PSI on a CT26, but only 8PSI on another, larger turbo.

Make sure you get an aftermarket boost gauge so you know how much you are actually boosting. It will account for the added boost created by the washers as well
