New paint: Before and After <56k prolly not>

DISCLAIMER:
Neither the before nor the after are what i would call anyhting near awesome paintjobs. The first one is a result of my crazy japanese drifter guy Tay, and the fact that the car was like 5 different colors.
The second is still amateur, but looks much much better.

Total costs for this almost done paintjob:
$65 including a fair amount of mountain Dew, and some lung damage. Stupid rain.
All thats left is to finish the work on the side stripes and redo the bottom of the mud flaps in black...
bonus points for anyone who knows what scheme we are emulating here.

Thanks for your time, hope none of you decide to get all huffy since my ass can't afford 'real' paint... oh wait, this isn't SF, I should be fine.

AAR Cuda to be exact, but yeah... should look even better when the side stripes are more intentional looking after I get off my ass and make a stencil for the lines.

Hahaha sweet. Good idea.

A friend of mine had an old protege that was painted differently every other time i saw it. He used paint from the dollar general, lol. Cool part was that he had a sharpie hangin on his back window and hed have people write shit all over it. It got to be lookin really cool, until he re-did it.

SupraMan: like I said, gonna go back over the flaps in black.

Prep wise, we did almost nothing... we did a fair bit of sanding for the previous 'paintjob,' so prep for this was just using a pressurewasher on low to get all the dirt/etc off...
that and we bondo'd over the hole where the antenna went before it broke.

So we redid the black on the upper sides and hood/tops of fenders/spoiler.
From there it was taping off the black parts and windows/lights, then three coats of the blue, followed by two coats of varnish.

As for the paint, I dont recall the brand off the top of my head, bought it at Lowes for like 3 dollars a can.
<note: Holy shit, three dollar spray paint is waaaaaaaay better than 98 cent spray paint>

lol, I wasn't expecting this much of a positive response...

Like I said, prep was minimal, but standard painting practice could be applied, as far as bondoing dings, wetsanding for uber smoothness, etc, the results can really only get better from here...

The paints we used were "American Tradtion" brand Ultra Enamel, for the flat black, the "Royal Blue Gloss" and the gloss varnish...
My 'technical advisor' wanted to use crazy krylon fusion paint, but Lowes didnt have it...
<that stuff is not only expensive, but apperently is epoxy based, for mad hold on-itude.>

So far no issues with chips from rocks or anything, we went with more coats for the front bumper and nose. <extra coat of paint, two extra coats of varnish iirc>

my expereince with the paint before is that this stuff sticks way better than it has any right to...
my car was flat black since like june, and the only places where the paint came off was where I rolled the fenders, so I'm not really worried about this coming off at all.
Anyway, the aerosol fumes are like half the fun!

I'll add more pics as I finish off the stripes, see if I can get a just-after-rain shot for y'all
