I was wondering if I got a JDM 7MGTE from Oksaka.com to swap into my 1987 Toyota Supra non-turbo.

What should I do to the motor as in the basic stuff to make sure I won't have problems done the line?

I know stuff like new clutch, new full engine gasket set which is all the gasket on the engine (I believe). What else am I missing?

THank you so much for the help. I know there's the search button, but I can't get the search to work well for me. Thanks again.

The Grassy Knole
The possibility of a valve job. Shaving the head, port and polish. ARP studs or bolts, New valve springs. General cleaners to remove carbon build up. tune up, new wires. swapping easy screw head bolts for hex head bolts, lifetime supply of worm clamps, Get cheap insurance because your shit is going to be broken down......., most, of the time. cold air intake, exhaust, new starter, alternator, water pump...., HONESTLY, just replace all of it. Starter. Start saving now for a new carrier bearing. Fuel Injectors are fragile.
You may even want to have your valve covers checked, for allighnment. Buy oil and other fluids by the case. Have fun getting started. Timing belt. It's right around 30 bucks so....,ya...., change it.

Definitly change:

Timing belt, SOOOO much easier with the motor out.
Clamps, hoses and vaccuum lines.
Starter should be checked at bare minimum, as once the motor is in, it's a SOB to reach.
Plugs, wires, possibly coil pack.
Since one day it's gonna blow anyway, HG or MHG and ARP's, and torque them down to ARP specs.
Sensors.
Gaskets, esp. hard to get to ones like oil pan and whatnot.

thanks for the reply.

so let me recap.. if i got the motor, pretty much replace all the things mention and i should be good to go for a long time correct?

how much am i looking at so far? the motor is 950 shipped. can someone please give me an estimated quote including motor price? i was hoping to get everything including motor and shop work for the motor, all under 4,000 dollars and this would have to include the 87 wire harness for turbo and ecu in US.

thanks

....And you got raped! For $2600 you could have had a jdm complete engine.

Sorry, but if you have good tools and a place to work, doing a BHG is easy, just a little time consuming.

really $4k would get me 400hp? That's cool!! Well what if I only want the JDM 7MGTE and to swap that in and run stock with reliablity and that would last me a long time without problems.

How much is that gonna cost me?

Thanks a lot!!

Under 2k, I do believe would buy you all necessary parts, then another ~1.5k to have someone do the work for you, that's why everyone says to do your own work.

yeah man. cost seems to be okay when you do the work yourself but the second you need to pay someone else it gets crazy expensive
