Are there any companies out there making new moldings for the mk3? I'm getting ready to repaint my car and would love to give it a new set of molding.

you can order them new from Toyota...

I thought that was the case too. I think it's just 89+ moulding, but I believe they are almost the same, just plastics vs. metal in parts of the molding. The metal ones were notorious for being horrible to take off and still have them look nice.

It's Not Important Bro
Sorry for the misinformation guys. Let me clarify, the price Toyota asks for new trim is absolutely out of this world expensive and is usually pretty prohibitive. But if you got it, spend it by all means. Good looking trim can really make a old car stand out.

That and the fact they rust to...
The molding on my 88 I had and the 87 I have are in much better shape than the 89 I drive now... but that probably just varies from car to car. Mines a heap when you get close enough. :p

Correct. Shame too, they had a nice lineup of products for our cars, just couldn't be bothered to spend some time on customer service...

I got a set before there customer service went down the toilet :). I agree though there customer service was terrible. When I got my 1st set the part that wraps around the back on both sides had cracked to shit. It took him several months to get a new set shipped to me because he lived so far away from the post office. He said like 3 hours. I didn't really have much to complain about, that was a couple years ago and there still sitting in my basement collecting dust lol.

Bad customer service probably stemmed from poor quality products that they couldn't support.......

They looked great in pictures, but had terrible fitment (several products, not just the moldings). I think the problem came from using old parts to make their molds, which had already shifted over time and weren't perfect to begin with. Plus they also used so much resin on their carbon (overlayed FG really) parts that they were much thicker than they should have been, and fouled on other body/interior parts.

Shame really, they promised a lot, but delivered little. We really need a quality MK3 aftermarket parts producer.
