Howdy, all. I'm new to the MK3 world. Though I've been lurking here for a couple years, I finally decided to post.

I have always loved these cars and grew up wanting one since I was a wee one (I'm 28 now). My first car was an 89 Celica GTS that I loved very much. The Celica was a brilliant car, but it always made me want its big brother Supra. Every time I decided the time was right to jump into a new car, I either couldn't find one in good condition, or the ones that were, were overpriced. Now that I'm older, wiser (at least I tell myself that), and more financially stable, I finally jumped on one.

Toward the end of last year, I found a pristine red 91 turbo in great shape. I purchased it for 5k from the husband of a colleague of mine. It had 110,000 on the clock and was treated very well during its life. He was the 2nd owner. It's never seen a winter in it's life, and has absolutely 0 rust.

The only issues on the car was a leaking rear-main seal which I've already fixed, and the darn heater doesn't work (the AC works just fine, though). Still haven't figured out why the heat won't work.

The Supra will serve as my weekend cruiser. My daily driver and winter car is an 01 MR2 Spyder. Although I love the Spyder with all my heart, every once in a while I'd get a craving for something with a bit more torque, and more comfortable seats.

Well, that's my story! Look forward to meeting everyone here, and possibly attending some Supra meet n' greets.

Wow your DD is a mr spyder. Welcome to SM! I was DDing my 91 mr2 all the time and had fun with it in the snow but decided to go for more space and bought a civic hatch. I go to Chicago every 2 weeks so just hit me up if you ever want to meet. I could help you figure out that heating problem too. My baby is still in the shop right now but it should be ready to rock by the end of June.

Welcome bro. You're heater issue is possibly the control valve on the firewall. It is located above the grommet that the engine harness passes through, and has coolant lines attached to it. try ziptieing the plunger all the way up and see if you have heat. it should work.

Where abouts the Chitown area are you?

Welcome, post some pics of your new ride.

As for you heat problem, locate the mixing valve on the fire wall behind the turbo. It is common for the vsv on them to fail. Below is a pic of what your looking for. You will notice a small metal rod, pull it up and zip tie it in in the up position. You should have heat now. If this trick fixed your heat problem you will need to buy a new valve/vsv if you want everything to work as new. Other wise you can just leave it up and you will always have coolant passing threw the heater core.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Moy - I'm in Des Plaines. Kinda near Randhurst Mall.

Pocket - Thanks! I'll keep that in mind. What area do you usually visit when in Chicago?

Thanks Moy and 92nsx! I'll check it out the valve right after work today :)

You can usually find me driving around areas like Jefferson Park, Albany Park, Portage Park, Skokie, Niles, Forest Glen, Park Ridge, and Schaumburg as it has Gameworks which I frequent bi-weekly. I do frequent Uptown also for some Vietnamese noodles and some dimsum during Saturdays.

Welcome, and I agree with 92nsx about the vsv. I've had that problem before. But post up some pix of your ride if you can
