phoenix6 - Pop up the headlamps and read the front of the sealed bulbs. If they say "SYLVANIA Performance" they're the SilverStars... Otherwise they're not.

billspreston01 - They are a DRASTIC improvement over the "OEM" bulbs that were in the car when I bought it. It's hard to tell from the pics, but the light is nearly PURE WHITE (the wall shot and the lawn shot show it decently). They have a magenta coating on them to neutralize the yellow tone, and they also have better quality mirrors in the sealed bulbs... For the price, I'd say AT LEAST give them a try... If you buy them at Advanced Autoparts or such you can always return them if you're not happy with them...

You could just buy H4 bulbs but what would you do with them? You need a housing to put them into. The factory lights are sealed units.

And putting HID in a lens that is not designed for HID is BAD! http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/bulbs/Hid/conversions/conversions.html

I already have a set of aftermarket housing which u can just replace the bulbs. I just want to get the same light quality that the 'theprodigy79' has. So, my question was, can i buy the same bulbs that he has and just the bulbs. Thanks

[edit] Thank you KeithH for the reading, now i know better and not to fuck something up.

E-code housings are fine for HID's because of the sharp cutoff.

Silverstars STILL have the crappy DOT style hosuing on them that look like 2 spotlights (notice the hotspots in the pics?) and tons of glare. Hella E-code housings with silverstars would be much better...

Hey Poodles... What are you basing your theories on HIDs on?

The cutoffs are created by a couple of different things in the H4. First is the lens. Second - and possibly more importantly is the shielding inside the H4 bulb.

the Hella E-codes have the lense and blinder in place, the cutoff is very good, maybe not as good as a true projector, but my foglamps (with blinders removed) give more glare than my headlights

don't have my HID's yet (hurry up Zach!), but I don't see any issues in using them.

I gotta get pics one of these days damnit...gotta borrow the g/f's camera to take the pic, my crappy digital camera won't catch it well enough...

Actually if you do a bit more homework you will find that the shielding (even in those nifty projectors) is different between Halogen and HID bulbs.

I picked up some Sylvania SilverStars to replace my headlamps and foglamps... They're still H3 (proper heat / wattage rating, so they require no modifications) however their color temperature and light purity is far superior to standard bulbs... Thus far I've been very happy with them. The headlamps are model H6054ST, the fogs are H3ST. They were around $20 a piece, so I left Advance paying around $87 total... They can be had for less if you purchase on-line, but I just wanted to go ahead and take care of them (I was getting annoyed with the OEM lights as well).

Just thught I would add that I have had the same lights for 2 years and I love them. There may be better light out there but these can't be beat for the price. The have worked flawlessly and installed in 5 min.

Hella H4 lenses - http://www.suprasport.com/Hella-H4_p_84-36.html
and a good quality H4 bulb

Then reqire your headlights following this page - http://danielsternlighting.com/tech/relays/relays.html

You will be VERY happy with your lighting.

Do these H4's have low and high beams?

I went on a cruise with a guy with H4's that didn't have the low beams...I wanted to punch him in the face. We got to where we were going and I asked..."Who has the blue lights?". This guy was all happy and said..."Those are mine...aren't they awesome?". My response..."Turn your fucking high beams off!!". He then went on to explain that the ones he bought didn't come with them but he doesn't care because he can see better. I felt this was a retarded point of view so I told him so. High beams only is retarded and dangerous to those around you. Spend more money and buy lights that actually work.
