I'll start this of simple. My name is Mike. Live in Southern California and do not own a supra, never have owned a supra, but may one day who knows! lol So most people are now wondering why am i here.. I build and race offroad trucks. It a hobbie that has been killing my bank account since i had one to kill. Although i may not be a dedicated supra enthusiast. i am however a dedicated Toyota enthusiast. So dont fret we are on the same team!

Main reason for joining the forum is that i have recently taken on a new motor swap in my desert truck. Blew up the LcEngineering 22r and was craving more power. So i now have a 7mgte being built by a local toyota expert to drop into it. I am completely alien to this motor. But i have been scouring this and other forums about anything and everything there is too know. So if there is a 7mgte expert that would help guide me in my quest i would be rather greatful. otherwise i will continue to search until i have no other option but to start a new thread.

I look forward to talking with all of you!

here is the truck the swap is going in, nothing you all are interested in but hey, its a Toyota!

We've had a few of you truck guys passing through. There was a local guy here running a 7M-GTE in his pickup, he kept snapping drivetrain bits as I recall.

What kind of power levels are you looking for? Seems like you'd be severely limited by traction running on sand / dirt.

i pulled the motor out of a tuner in a junk yard and had it completly torn apart to make sure the insides were good before i did anything. Turns out it already had arp head studs, and RC engineering 550cc in it. turbo apears to be stock ct26 with minimal shaft play. but it will be replaced with a new one. im not reaching for the sky, just front mount intercooler, 3inch turbo back and a management system for the 550's. I'm just looking to get it rather bullet proof and reliable. and i'll be getting the supporting gauges and monitoring systems so i always know whats going on. It will be dyno tuned before it is taken out for abuse. lol

If the engine came out of a tuner car, make sure the turbo hasn't been upgraded before you replace it - upgraded compressor wheels are pretty common in that kind of car! Post a photo looking down the compressor intake and we should be able to give you pretty decent odds whether it's upgraded or not.

Also, you won't need much in the way of tuning if you go with/already have the Lexus air meter. It's quite possible you already have it, seeing as how it's commonplace to replace the stocker with it at the same time as the 550cc upgrade, even more likely if the ct26 has been reworked with a bigger compressor wheel. Later on you could piggyback or standalone tune it to squeeze more power out of it.

All you need for that is like 12-13psi and a tune with intake and exhaust and the supporting mods. Walbro and lex afm. wide band. maft gen II would be a good thing to get and then you could run a gm blow through maf instead of the lex afm.

Welcome as well.

Pretty much... there's going to be some oddballs in the works with your truck, I expect... like big wheels, transmission gear ratios, and more drivetrain loss due to a 4wd system. Here's the list for mods in the Supra chassis, in order, numbers listed are crank hp.
- Intake, 235hp
- Exhaust, 85hp
- Boost controller, 320hp
- Intercooler, 330hp
- 550cc injectors & Lexus AFM, 360hp
- Upgraded turbo, 400+hp

This list is well over a decade old by now, and with a fresh motor is likely a bit conservative. Supras run ~15% drivetrain loss, so the setup you have would push significantly more than 300 whp in the Supra chassis.

yea i was suprized at what i got for $600.... junkyards dont always know what they got. hell i didnt even know. but it didnt come out of a wrecked car. police caught the guy running drugs across the border with it so they made the junk yard dismantle it. only reason i suspected it was out of a tuner was the timing belt cover had an Apex sticker on it. then as i torn it down i found all the goodies hahaha the only thing the motor didnt come with was a cps sensor... which i am pissed at the replacement price! local parts shop wants over $500 for one!
