Just got a new molded carpet set and it doesn't fit the '90. it's not wide enough. they didn't cut any holes in it, or cut out for the center console. Really ticked off with the quality of the cut/molding. Any ideas?

Got the set from http://www.auto-interior.com/ Don't ever buy their carpet!!! You have been warned! the corners were not even molded. This is the worst carpet set I've ever seen.

The cargo area fit, but that's not rocket science. It's flat. I called them and they haven't called me back. They better take it back or i'm gonna raise hell.

it actually does. I don't know WTF is wrong. but It's crap for fitment. This type of crap is easier to just rip out the old, clean it up nicely the way you want and then take it to the upholstery shop. I called them... $225 for cut pile, $350 for OEM loop type stuff. I'm no Ish, so i should of just taken it to them. piss me off. and now the place probly won't wanna take it back b/c I cut it. It's like, you don't know it doesn't fit until you cut the console out to let it lay in the floor! SO HTF can you see if it'll fit w/out cutting? Unlogical.

toyota is almost $500. Suprastore is $250 for the main cabin. I looked at that web site and almost ordered from them because the prices were the cheapest. Good thing I haven't ordered a carpet yet. Contact them and if they say they won't take it back, DON'T give up. Make a list of things that would bring up a good case a tell them about it. Be persistant and don't give up.

Also, where did anyone who replaced their carpet order it from. How was the fit and install. Everyone has been warned about this company, why not list which are good/bad. Post 'em up guys.

I'm gonna try like hell to get it returned. at least the cabin section. I'll tell them to refund me the difference between the cargo section and cabin. Just seems like if it doesn't come from toyota... it fits like poopy ya know! We'll see what happens with them though...

Yes, DO NOT order from this company. I don't know if I should do the suprastore, Dealership, or just take the car to a upholstery shop and say... here I want carpet you mess with it! Upholstery shop that did our seats (so sweet of a job!) said $225 for cutpile cabin only. $350 for OEM Loop stuff cabin only. He said they'd make it look good. Ug, trying to get this supra looking good...and fast. holidays are here. Got other things to do.

Has anyone tried carpet sets from 1AAuto?

I sort of doubt the dealership still carries it, but it may be worth checking out. Part numbers still come up valid I think, but might be obsolete by now, though some stock may still be kicking around.

Check into it.

(PS: The pre-89 stuff is cheaper for some reason, so if you have 1 of the 4 pre-89 colors in your car, ask for that first. :))

talked to the misses. She decided we'll return the new carpet that doesn't fit and just live with the old OEM carpet for now since it looks decent after I pulled it out, and cleaned it real well. Gonna focus on the oil leaks, and some Performance mods. But I think I'm gonna call suprastore see where they're getting their carpets from, if not... dealer. Tired of stuff that doesn't fit properly.

FYI: got those Auto shifter bushing in. Thing is great now! $3 for the set at our dealer. Never did one of those jobs like that before so it was interesting but I figured it out. She's happy with it. Thanks.

JUST AN FYI:

all molded carpet sets come as basically a square.... with no holes in it... its molded in the form of the floorpan and thats it.... YOU have to cut it almost i half to go over the tranny tunnel and around the center area...YOU have to cut the holes for the seats to bolt in and the seatbelts etc....

its not meant to be plug and play...YOU have to do it...

i personally think it fits fine but you didnt realize you are supposed to do all this... heres some pics of my carpet install....

you also have to take the green plastic pieces off the old carpet and attach them to the new carpet which will pull the new carpet to the sides....

how long have you had your mk3 for? im in tampa as well...maybe ive seen you around or something...

Had it 1 week and it's silver. I know you have to do that stuff. Your carpet is actually molded to the floor. Ours was NOT molded to the floor. It was molded for the trans tunnel that was it. I can see in your pics your carpet is molded very well where the seats mount. Our carpet set was not molded at all for the seat mounts. and it was actually to narrow in the rear. Very poor carpet set man, trust me. I did a carpet install in my Corvette which was a show car had no issues.

IdealSupra, where did you buy your carpet set from? It looks a LOT better molded than what we got.

I got one from 1AAuto a few years back and it was VERY nice.... about $200 shipped off Ebay.

I cut the sides too short and had to kinda tack it down (where the green pieces would hold). But had I not made that mistake, it would've fit perfect like Ideal's. I made the mistake of cutting while it was outside the cabin. It still looks really good, but I know that the flaw is there.

Best bet is to put some long bolts where the seatbelt bolts need to be and place everything in the cabin, to make every cut.

Anyways, I got a replacement from another Supra owner, which I have not had a chance to install yet. The box says Auto Custom Carpets, Inc.

Hmmm. Well all I know is our carpet set was NOT molded other than the trans tunnel. Very sad molding of it. I plan on calling them Monday.
