i don't think it's worth it either.replacing a 3/16" piece of tempered glass with 3/16" lexan will look awful.it would be very noticable, even if the stock moulding's were used.i can see if it's just a stripped down drag car,but not a street car.

i hope people aren't confusing plexi with lexan either.

kind of why i went from supra to truck for drag purposes hehe. love the semi stock look of the supra not really into butchering it

Like I said I don't know on the hatch. Hidden weight, you mean in the car? Uni-body? lol

Seth

Ive just always heard people here whinning that the hatch weighs so much. So if you can only save 12 lbs in glass and maybe another 12 or so in the hatch itself using "lightweight racing F&F overnight from japan" stuff, over the stock stuff maybe they forgot how to use a scale properly?

i think the hatch might seem like it weighs more than it does just from opening it on the car. but who knows till its accurately weighed.

I have my hatch off the car now, but its stripped down of everything but the glass. ie. spoiler, rear wiper, interior/exterior trim are off. If there isn't a figure out there for it I suppose I could find a way to jerry rig a scale to weigh it. I'm not going to be taking the glass out to weigh them separately though.

EDIT: Just went out and weighed it, it weighs 56.6 pounds stripped down to the glass and frame.

Has anyone had experience with their DuraFlex GT style hood? It's duraflex, i know, but does it sit flush, too light, wiggle?

The fitment on this hatch is a lot better than pictured when the glass is in. I've had it on my car for a while now as soon as I get a new camera ill get pictures up

Hm if the hatch weighs 30 then that would mean the glass would weigh around 25. So you could still stand to lose a fair amount of weight depending on what that CF hatch weighs, you'd think they'd post the weight of it on their site.

Yes, but if they did they would probably sell less of them

If their products aren't as high of a reduction in weight as one would expect, customers would spend their money elsewhere. I.E. if the weight savings is only 20 pounds at a cost of $700, the customer would be better off spending that $700 on go-fast parts that would be more beneficial than the weight loss. $$$>benefit=no CF part, money spent on more power instead

Makes sense; but 20 pounds is 20 pounds and most people don't usually buy them purely for weight savings anyway. I wounder if one was to email them would they cough up the weight of the parts?

Supra Curve Weight = 3389lbs. Minus 20lbs = 3369.

20/3389 = 0.00590144585.

But paired with a bunch of other things to ditch some weight i can see a difference. :)

When ur car weighs in at 2910 with a full tank anything else u can find to lose weight with is worth it. And the hatch looks sick.

Juan did ur buddy fall through on those fenders? And if ur going to the meet sunday ill bring u a drimmel
