New brake pads, install anti-squeal shims ??

I bought new brake pads. Wagners Organics. My question relates to the anti-squeal shims.
The oem toyota pads have two shims and the back of the pad itself has a two small nipples to hold the squeal shims in place.
The wagners do not have the two little nips. I could put the squeal shims on but I do not want them to slide around under the caliper piston. One of the toyos oem squeal shims has lost its 90degree clip to latch it over the pad.

Do I use the squeal shims or not with the wagners?

Happy 4th.!

I bought the Thermo-quiets. The box states Thermo-quiet wagners, and a small label on the side with the part number says organics.

Thanks!.. I will wrap it up and put her on the road.

Any tips on brake bedding?

if you don't want em to squeel, chamfer the edges and make sure to remove ALL the paint on the sides of the actual friction compound.

Break in is covered all over this forum...

My car came with some aftermarket pads that squeal a lot at low speeds. I sprayed the backs of the pads and the shims with brake quiet, but they still squeal. A couple of my shims are not perfectly straight and do not sit flat against the pads, and I can't help but think these shims could be part of the noise. Are they even necessary if I'm using a vibration dampening product like brake quiet?

I can tell you that I removed all the oem toyota shims and just installed the brake pads as they came out of the box with no brake quiet. I did not chamfer the edges. The Wagners Thermo quiets have some kind of material on the back of the brake shims which I believe to be a brake quiet substance. The thermo quiets are not painted on the sides as I have seen with cheap brake pads.
I have driven over 1000 miles and no squeal issues with the Thermo Quiets.

I have direct experience with those exact pads, and you are 100% correct about them slipping off the back of the pad.

When I first got my supra I bought a set of wagner's, after about 4-500mi I started hearing this metal to metal noise. I pulled the front wheels and sure enough the wagner anti-squeel pads had slipped off the pad and were rubbing on the rotor, and were getting ready to do the same on the other side. You'll never get 'em to stay put. I chucked 'em and just used Brake Quiet on the backs, problem solved. Never used them again for that exact reason.
