Ok so I have a new block, its a pre 89 block with pre 89 square mounts, so new round mounts are needed. The plans are to get it running as stock as possible before and upgrading...meaning stock turbo, injectors, MAF, inter-cooling and piping, wiring, ect.. I have looked over, and I have had a friend look over the block and looks to be a good starting point. I'm going to be using a new OEM head-gasket, torqued down with ARP head bolts. Hopefully to protect from any further damage via a blown head gasket. After that re-wiring to original specs will be dealt with new connectors, and a re-loom of the harness. (I like things pretty :)) So here are some pics of the motor being torn apart, while I go in to check clearances and basically make sure i'm not getting a bad motor. Sorry they were taken by phone so they are not the best what-so-ever. But its what I had at the time lol.

This is the motor at my friends house when I went to pick it up

It didn't come with a tranny or turbo, so ill have to get a turbo, but I have a built R154 so no worries there.

Here is the motor in my "garage" (its really just a car port lol) but thats ok

So I got to taking some more pictures of the work that got done today. I started to peel away the 20 yr old loom, wasnt too hard to do. Cause it mostly crumbled under any force, the tape was a pain and really sticky. Also tonight I cleaned my tranny and bell-housing to make it nice a clean for the reinstall. Come to find out I also had a spare bellhousing for the R154, so if anyone needs one, i can sell it lol. Ill post pics as soon as I get back to my girlies house, I have no way to do it at mine. So untill then. My next thing to do is clean up the block it self before the install cause its not looking so hot, its very shiny from degreaser, purple power and WD-40. But ill probably going to be using another type of high strength acid cleaner to clean it with. So pics will be up soon

First up is the Harness

So those are all my pics so far, I love to take them so more will come, I will be ordering new 89+ mounts I think, and I need to get longer bolts for the motor brackets being that this is a pre 89 block I have a 89+ sub-frame, the ones that were one the block weren't long enough at all.

She isn't that pretty anymore...lol

Nice work so far.
Are the Pre89 engine mounts (square) incompatible with the 89+ subframe? If they work together, save the money for something else. Pre89+ mounts are stronger, and sit the engine a tad lower (~1/2")
Also, are you going to recirculate the HKS BOV? Not recircing will contribute to black puffs out the exhaust on shifts lol

Idk if I'll be recirculating it yet, but I probably will. But idk yet, but the sqaure mounts do not and I repeat do not work with the 89+ subframe. Trust me I tried. And they do not work together, also to use my old 89+ motor brackets I have to go out and buy longer bolts for the mount brackets cause the pre 89 block uses a really thin plate and the mounts on the 89+ are thicker, I'll post pics to explain more in depths but, 89+ mounts need to be purchased unfortunatly. Along with the solid piping, but if I'm going to be doing solid piping I may keep a look out for a cheap FFIM and go with a big front mount also. But only time will tell. Funds are very tight being that I go to school and work, but hopefully it won't take too long. And thanks for looking guy.

For sure, I've seen 88 mounts and the steel plate that mounts to the block and understand about the bolts... and didn't know the 89+ subframe couldn't utilize them, bummer.
I'm sure someone local can get them to you fast. I have spare 89 mounts although one has a busted rubber so thats only 75% what you need lol

Someone parting out their hardpipes would be cheapest, but really every setup is custom and your better off fabbing exactly what you need with a kit from Driftmotion.
Guess your path is getting an FFIM before going for IC pipes and Intercooler kit.

Also picked up a nice CPS covert thats not in to bad of condition either. Just a little crack by a screw hole.

p1634544_3.jpg

p1634544_4.jpg

A nice 3000 pipe

p1634544_5.jpg

NGK wires on a nice coil pack, but I have IS300 coils that I may try to use later in the build, after the car gets running right.

p1634544_6.jpg

Intake Manifold, which I may not use idk yet

p1634544_7.jpg

Working AC compressor, who can guess what that means :D I got AC dawg

So now its slowly starting to look like a motor lol, but I know need new knock sensors, the ones that where on the motor where really broken so I just kept them on the motor so I dont get any over spray in there. Does anyone know if there is a difference to the sensors?

Ok so some new news I am going to be taking the head to have some work done to it. Just a good cleaning and a 3 angle valve job. But next i'm going to look for a shop that will be able to deck the block without having to remove the internals. Anyone know how this s going to go over with shops? If they are going to be needed to be removed, ill have them do it, and replace all bearings, bolts, and probably new rings. But if its avoidable ill do that. So ill find out soon enough.

have to disassemble. Metal is going to get in everywhere and the block needs to be cleaned after.

lol yea I contacted a bunch of shops today and all either needed it disassembled or will disassemble it. So ill probably start looking to get either new main, and rod bearings. But before I do that, I want to run something by you guys.

Ok, so I had a 7M originally in the white car, I took the motor out for a 2JZ swap due to a spun rod bearing, well that 2J went into my Maroon car. Now the white car still has no motor and thats were this thing is going. When I did have the original 7M motor in the car, it did have machine work done to the block and head, and was running a HKS MHG. I still have that head, as an extra. Would I be able to reuse that old head, cause its still milled just needs to be cleaned. Cause if i'm able to do that it would be great, cause that head also has a 3 angle valve job, with fairly new valves from Toyota. Thanks for any input of this question, cause id really love to be able to do that. :)

Yes use the existing head with fairly new toyota valves.

You sand blasted???
Thorough cleaning like bore brush the oil passages is pretty important here, no amount of air is going to dislodge the residual dust.
