Neodeuccio;1286013 said:Ford is not trying to make the Mustang a balls-to-the-wall speed machine, they're trying to make it a good-looking, fast, fun car that's easily accessible to pretty much everyone. And they've succeeded.

Im not a fan of Mustangs myself and would never be able to afford a $50,000 car, but I do like what Ford is trying to do to compete with today's market.
I mean think about it, Ford was the company who brought back the old school muscle car look....and they seem to have succeeded since Dodge and Chevy are beginning to follow suit.
The main problem with having a Non Supra thread is that a lot of members believe that the MKIII Supra is the fastest auto out there, because mainly its the only sports car they've driven besides a stock Mustang GT or anything else in that class. The fact is that while I love the MKIII Supra more than any other car out there, I know that my Supra will never be able to compete with any of the ZR1 Vettes or Enzos or any others in that class that I see mentioned above. And that is fine by me.

Ford could come out with a Mustang with IRS, 984RWHP, weigh 2100lbs wet with driver and run the 1/4 in 9.6 from the factory and they would hate it.

x10secondzx2;1286350 said:This is true. But I don't love Mustangs. I love sweet cars, no matter what it is or who makes it. Plus I own a Camaro, I am supposed to hate Mustangs right? lol
prsrcokr;1270720 said:IRS was only on the Cobras (03-06?) It's a shame too because they handled well for the weight (a little lighter than a mk3)
I like these 500's but they are even heavier, not like the old 5.0's that were fairly light. I think even the current GT's aren't too heavy but these are. They've got ridiculous power though.
rtrdpenguin;1278422 said:99-04 Cobras had IRS The current GTs are doing quite well in the Koni Challenge with their solid axles too, last year the stangs mostly placed in the top places (beating 911s and M3s lol)
The new GT500 is heavy, but look at its competitors weights... the Camaro and Challenger are even huger!
Mr.PFloyd;1286331 said:congrats, making worse and worse arguments as we go along.
7Mboost;1286528 said:The Camaro and Challenger aren't going to be doing any sort of road racing where you should measure a car's ability. I'd say its competition is the Corvette obviously and that means it should be up to par with the new GT-R, ACR Viper, GT3 etc. If Ford is going to get serious in competing in anything other than drag racing, they need to please get a fucking IRS for one and drop some fucking weight two.
CTsupra;1218282 said:Does it still run 13's? I bet it weighs 4,000lbs and it still will have nothing on just a z06, forget the zr1.
Poodles;1218306 said:- Ugly ass color (the blue)
- Supposedly they changed the tranny ratios in 5th and 6th to lower revs at those speeds...but wait, they changed the rearend ratio as well which will eliminate that...
Neodeuccio;1285262 said:Maybe it's just locally, but around here the GT500's have at least $20,000 dealer mark up. That's just WAY to much money for these cars, in my opinion.
Nick M;1292121 said:The Cobra hasn't run 13's stock since 2001, and that was just people that can't drive.
And why do you think a muscle car is supposed to have something on a track car, like the Z06? Why are such idiotic people drawn to the automotive world?
Terminator with a chimp behind the wheel could run 12.7-12.8. Motor Trend or other imbeciles maybe a low 13 at 110. Funny that a Supra owner would say something like that. And not in a good way.
Yes, quite ghey.
I know you are smarter than that. Do I need to show you basic mulitplication to get overall ratio?
Put .63 x 3.31, then put .5 x 3.55 and see what you get. 2.0853:1 on the old model. 1.775 on the new one.
Great car, but it got kind of ugly. The previous one looks much better. I am not in the market for it anyway.
And the liberal education establishment strikes again! Obama 2012!
Nick M;1304698 said:You are the one that said "it costs too much". That is a political statement. And an uneducated one at that. Whatever you do, don't be objective about anything. Especially not a car.
