Love the build.

Just curious tho. Doesn't look like you out much silicOne for the oil pan. Also usually you want to put it on the pan first because of the low spots. Just my two cents.

How much power you looking for?

Any plans for suspension?

Thanks a lot guys!

I first saw up close wrinkled powder coating from my brother's S2000 and loved the clean look of it (also not too flashy). I like how it looks on Ferrari's engines as well, but that is probably impossible to mimic.

The dealer has a love/hate relationship with me, last order I placed was for about 100+ lines of screws which didn't add up to a lot of money...then again trims, hoses, interior parts make up it.

You are probably right Hvyman, I will take a closer look at what I did in the morning. If I'm not mistaken, the manual said something like 3mm diameter or so for the silicone, so I just cut the nozzle tip to match that figure. Regarding the suspension, I've only installed Tein Flex coilovers and plan on doing bushings/swaybars later, but first I want to drive it as is. It has been so long since the last time I've taken it for a spin that I would like to tell the difference before and after these mods. I am not looking for too much power at the moment, I'm shooting for high 300s low 400s. So far I have done the usual to it:

- 60-1 trim
- 3" Blitz exhaust and custom DP
- 550 injectors/Lexus AFM (might go standalone after a few months)
- HKS 2mm Stopper HG
- ARP Head Studs
- Blitz intake
- Need intercooler & piping

I've rebuild the brakes/MC, sent the booster to get rebuilt out as well, and added braided lines...

Not much else to list, but many things on the waiting/wish list. I'll keep posting more updates as I go...

Very nice.
I'd like to hear about the paint products you used.

Thanks!

Most of the cast iron & steel items, such as calipers, brackets and tubing, were black zinc plated. The brake pins, bolts, banjos and other small miscellaneous parts were yellow zinc plated (barreled). I used a local company down here in Florida; their price seemed fair. All the black parts in the picture below plus some others (pulleys, dipstick tubing, coil bracket, p.s. reservoir & bracket, etc etc) for $150 (2 lots...$75/lot).

The screws in yellow were free because the company I work for uses them for plating as well and I included them with one of the batches we sent out. The price is also $75 per lot, expensive if you send a few screws, but since they use a barrel to plate them, you can probably fit all the screws in the car for that much money. We send about 3000 3/8" x 2" bolts and still pay that amount.

The valve covers were wrinkle powder coated in red with the striped brushed; I paid $130 for both. I am waiting on a quote for the upped/lower intake, 3000 pipe and water outlet in black wrinkle powder coat (hopefully will have that done in the next couple of weeks). If I find an extra throttle body, CPS and ISC valve will send those as well...

I painted some parts myself using AutoZone hi-temp engine primer and enamel. They came out pretty good, and had no choice since I was worried heat or chemicals from other processes would ruin them. Some of the parts are the igniters, relays, p/s pump and starter (both while being rebuilt), etc.

I anodized a few parts but not worth mentioning...

I'll keep posting as I go.:icon_bigg

Very nice.
I just powdercoated my rotor hats and brake calipers, and also plan to wrinkle finish my manifold and valve covers.
And if I can get a similar price to yours on zinc plating, I might have all my engine fasteners redone as well.

Hi guys,

Here are a few more pictures since the last time. The engine is about 90% complete, just waiting for a few more bolts and o-rings as well as clutch components to install the transmission. The body is about 95% complete. I'm missing the hatch/targa trim, front spoiler and wiper arms. Once the car runs I'll worry about the interior...

The alternator was new but after so many years got corroded so I took it apart, sandblasted it and painted it (bearings changed as well). Also took apart the throttle body and painted it...

The company I used is called KPC and they are down in Florida; but I am sure you can find one just as good locally. They have a lot charge of $75 and depending on the parts they can either use a barrel or hang them. For screws and small pieces the barrel is the best way to go and can do several hundreds at a time. Hanging would be best for lines and brackets that can be damaged otherwise, and they can do quiet a few for that lot charge. HTH
