hi folks,
Its been awhile since i have been on. Have had some problems here at home and elsewhere. Now, on to the prob. i have a 87 supra 7mgte and i have a 91 na shell. My 87 doesnt have much interior and no heater system at all and no glove box along with missing dash parts. The 91 has it all and is a much cleaner car. I was wanting to know if it was worth converting the auto 91 into the 7mgte 5 speed. Is this swap a hard one or do i need to put everything back into the 87 that belongs there. Ive looked for info and really havent found what i was looking for so this is why i wrote this thread. Let me know what yall think.

Thanks,
Dano

just swap the the motor and trans and find the appropriate year(91-92) year turbo harness/ ecu and everything will be fine. use either 89+ motor mounts or you can cut the tabs off the mk4 mounts and use them. search for the mk4 mounts of you don't get what i mean.

Thanks guys that makes me feel better lol.
So do i have to mess with the rear end or anything since the 91 was an auto and the 87 is a 5 speed.

I've never once read where you had to swap the rear end during a 5-speed swap, so I wouldn't think yo would. The driveshafts are different lengths, due to the length of the tranny. So, I would think you need to keep the driveshaft with the tranny you are going to use.

Correct, you can run any rear ratio you want. Keep in mind that it may cause your speedometer to read incorrectly. Also, you only need to swap the front half of the driveshaft, the rear sections are all identical.

Wonder how they make that work for all the different rearends. Different speedo's? Have to give it some thought.

CajunKenny is doing a great cleanup on his while his engine is out. Check it out. I just finished looking at several cars for sale and it is surprising to see how many people overlook keeping the engine bay clean. There is not better time than while you do the swap.

Speedo drive gear in the transmission. IIRC it's one bolt to swap it out.
