im sporting the hankook's. i like them. aweeesome wet traction. my michelin pilots did grip a bit better, but they were sooo soft and were trashed after 10k km.. then hankooks are a pretty good tire. also cheap so u dont feel bad even if they do get eaten away fast.. but they have a treadwear of about 360 i think?

BosoMKII - That's what I figured about treadwear, which is why it'd be nice to hear some feedback from people who've used the tires. It's much easier to believe someone who says "Tire X lasted 25k miles on my 325hp Supra" than some proprietary-looking treadwear number.

Werd. Its also about how you drive. Tire X could last a 500hp car twice as long as a tire Y on a 125hp car because the guy in the lower hp car drives nuts everywhere.

I run Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 245-50/16 on stock painted sawblades. My second set, this set like my last haven’t needed to be rotated due to the Supras great suspension geometry. So far this tire is everything you could ask for in a tire, and in every environment. They stick like glue wet or dry. If you want to see some great pricing and the best reviews of all tires try tirerack.com. Get a price there, then drop by your local discount tires and ask them to match that price.

Does anyone have any experience with the new Kumho Ecsta SPT tires? I've heard that the Ecsta Supra 712 is no longer in production and is to be replaced by the SPT, which looks rather different. Was wondering if anyone's tried out a set yet, because I'm probably going to have to replace these Supra 712s soon...

My fave is the Dunlop SP Sport 5000 Asymmetrical (stock 225/50-16). FWIW, my usual procedure is to wait until the fronts wear out, buy a pair, put the old rears on the front and the new tires on the rear. That way I only have to buy a pair at a time, though I bought that pair every year when the Supra was my only car. Tires lasting two years gives about 26,000 miles lifetime for these tires that have a treadwear rating of 340. The car is heavy and I'm not a slow driver. Don't expect 60,000 miles from tires on this car unless they're hard as rocks and slippery as a result.

I will never by any Bridgestone product ever.

I have the Kuhmo 712's and have been satisfied with them. Good performance for the price without excessive noise or tire wear.

What else have you compared them too though? The 712s where great tires in the day. They had great grip and where cheap compared to other tires in the same class. Those days are about 6 years ago now, and there are much better tires on the market.

I have also had Falken's and have driven a comparable car with AVS es100. My main problem with the Falken's were that they had a weird shaped sidewall. I guess it was designed to protect the lip of the rim or something. Overall they worked well but weren't attractive. The ES 100's were just plain rough to drive on IMO. The H&R's are rough enough on their own. I like the tires I have now and hopefully I will go back to Kuhmo if their new replacement measures up.

Road and Track did a tire test on performance tires.
The Yokohama AD07 tested significantly better in braking than any of the other tires. I've never used them, but since the tires are probably the deciding factor is most panic braking situations, I think I'm going to give it a try. I'd rather spend a few more bucks up front that might save my car, or my life, later.

I have a set of cooper cobras on my supra. They are junk junk junk. Driving in the wet around 45mph in 4th, slowly hit the gas going around a curve (very slight curved), started to boost and they started to spin. That was on my brother's supra, all stock. On my supra, they light up at full throttle in any of the 1st three gears.

They are as good as the futura performance tires you can buy at pepboys...

Toyo Proxes T1-R - excellent, best if you want the best grip, but last half as long as the other ones and cost more too.
Toyo Proxes 4 - ALL these are good for daily driving. Good grip and last long.
