What up guys? I know a turbo timer install is cake, but I'm a little stuck. I dont have the harness, so I need to splice in. I got the directions online from Greddy and they only show a 4 and 5 wire ignition, but there are 7 wires coming off our ignition (Blue/Red, Brown/Red, Black/Yellow, Solid Brown, Brown/White, Black/Red and Black/White), as well as, 2 other green wires connected to a clip coming off the key switch. My question is do we have two ignition wires? Also which one of these wires are ACC & ON? I think my multimeter might be on the fritz. This should be an easy install considering all I have to do is connect Red to 12V, Blue to ACC, and Green to ON, but the previous owner has a remote start wired in and its a nightmare underneath my steering wheel......

My question is why are people still installing these things? They're as useless as tits on a bull with Grp III or better oils. What benefit are they supposed to provide?
x 2 I've never ran a TT even back in the dark ages when they were needed due to Oil coking on shutdown....

jj: You have to remember though, the majority of people (especially on here) drive like maniacs from the second they start it up till they pull into the driveway and open the door. Even to have a timer to circulate a bit of water I have to imagine is some benefit for them. Not as much to protect oil from coking in the turbo any more.

Of course thats not what they're marketed for, but you know...

So what Colin, you're saying I drive like your Grandpa? Guess again ;)

If it's not to prevent coking what benefit is there? I certainly hope people don't believe the bovine scat about turbos continuing to spin after the engine is shut off.

I'll admit to having one. Custom designed, built, and installed from scratch in 1987 by yours truly. Does turbo timing, car jack protection, theft control, all sorts of stuff. I haven't used it in anger for probably 10+ years. Engine has the same turbo it came with and I've not been all that kind to it. Most people don't have a clue how much better oils are compared to even 5 years ago.

TTs these days are a waste other than for quick runs into convenience stores. That said way back when, I came out of one and found the car moved 20 feet. Good thing the wheel was locked ;)

JJ: Ball Bearing Turbos do take awhile to spool down after the motor is shut off sort of freaked me out the first time I heard it doing it :) (my accumulator keeps a good supply of Oil to it until it stops)

LOL, what if my grandpa was a professional road racer?

All I'm saying is maybe you're giving the general public a little too much credit. ;)

Ian: The rapid equalization of pressure across the compressor after shutdown stops turbos pretty much dead in their tracks but yeah, I'll give you BB takes a bit longer. It's still not all that long though and they aren't as dependent on oil.

Colin: Give the public too much credit? Me? ;)

CK: I'm one. Twice over.

Gary: LOL as stated I've never owned one!

WC'd chra's will thermosiphon and take the killer heat away nicely.
(always laugh when I see people block off or remove the water lines from turbo's)

LOL! This thread went nuts while I was gone huh? I was given the TT so I figured I'd put it to good use rather then have it sit around. Guess no one has any install tips haha.

No big deal Jet. I had a good laugh. It was all in fun. Yep it's a '91. Only 3 wires, one to 12V, the other to ACC, and the last to ON depending on whether or not we have two ignition wires.
