I have an 87 Turbo and need a new MK3 engine, as I have rod knock and the car struggles to keep idle and blows out black smoke. The car is worthless as it is right now.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a couple of good places to get an MK3 turbo engine? I saw that some come with a metal head gasket.

I have many mods, so I want to start out with a rebuilt/new engine. I have the Lexus/550, 3 inch cone air filter, 3 inch exhaust, upgraded intercooler with pipes, Fuel Pressure Regulator, Super APC, boost controller, turbo timer, Wide band O2 sensor, and Walbro fuel pump (standard upgrades).

:1zhelp:

Thanks all,
Sal

Jarco Inc. will build you a 7m with MHG and ARP hardware. Not sure how well their built 7m's are but they can be had for about $2k USD. Where are you located? Theirs a engine rebuild company here local they do 7m's more like $2500 there. Contact Jarco and speak with Bill.

Anyone on here bought a rebuilt 7m from Jarco?

:wavey: $1950 for rebuild + HKS MHG + ARP studs, new water and oil pump + timing belt + plugs. Great comp to deal with, still not sure on how well they do their builds. First one they sent had crank issues (I think they turned it to much). They were very prompt to fix it, turn around including shipping time was about a week. They paid all shipping and tossed in new intake and exhaust gaskets (I had put new Toyo gaskets on the first time and brought that up when I talked to Bill, so he said he would replace them) So no out of pocket expense to me. I'm at about 600 miles right now.

Yea.. they took 3 weeks to get me a diaphram for a BOV, all they had to do was ship the piece.

This engine already has an HKS metal head gasket + ARP studs and a new head.

If I can salvage this engine, which I think I can, I need to replace the stock internals with forged ones.

I have no clue what to purchase here: pistons, cams? Any suggestions on what and where to buy these?

I would like it to reliably support up to 500 HP to be safe. I would be running 350 to 400 HP.

Basically I am trying to avoid blowing the motor like I just did. :icon_sad:

Thanks in advance,
Sal

eagle rods and weisco forged pistons are around 1300 dollars from HPF and will easily handle the power you plan to make

Thanks. I will look to Horsepower Freaks for some help.
