Fixing your girl's car
I live in CT a state that requires your vehicle to pass emissions every 2 years until the vehicle reaches 25 years old.

I can not find a shop with emissions testing equipment without a sloped driveway into the bay.

I can drive over speed bumps, meaning the car is not on the ground at the moment but I have it dialed in the way I want it and I am not going to change my settings to pull into some hack's service bay.

Last place I brought it to, I had the whole shop screaming NOT GONNA MAKE IT. Then as the dipshit brought my car back around he some how forgot how to turn a vehicle off...you know....with the key. Assfuck stalled it out, left the key to on, I wanted to strangle the fuck.

So its either car sits til it turns 25 or I drive it into a bay myself no fuckfaces allowed.

What year is the car? My buddy has an 88 and when he went to register the car the guy asked him if he wants early american plates or the regular. He asked what the difference is and the guy said that with the early american plates you don't have to go through emissions and you pay less taxes. If your car is an 89 you can go and get those plates. If not and if you are near manchester CT, visit Expetech Auto. They are very friendly and reliable. They do emmisions and your car would fit up there no problem. My friend had a slammed out MKIII jetta and it was able to go on the dyno no problem.

Hmm down here in MD, if the car is too low to get on the dyno then they give you a 2 year extension or "pass".

It's pretty awesome. Maybe they do something like that up there? A little loophole?

Here in BC, Canada if your car is too low to get onto the rollers they just give your car an idle test. But with just doing an idle test you have to go in every year instead of every 2 years. Check out what your options are.

Thanks for the ideas everyone.

I too thought wood planks but the guys told me, no way man the DMV have cameras watching everything and they wouldnt allow it.

Josh, that sounds perfect. Do I have to call to schedule an appointment or can I just show up?

Supra90gr: OK see I get the long hard shaft everywhere I go. I think I have a sign on me that says SUCKER only I cant see it. I go to the DMV and inquire about antique plates and I get this: You must own, register and insure 3 OTHER vehicles before you can register one with antique plates. I am under the impression I can never put antique plates on my supra unless I own register and insure 2 more vehicles (i own the supra and a truck) And on top of everything they say it must be 25 years old. One thing is for certain: a trip to the DMV is a crap shoot. You either get a really cool person or you get the biggest dick you've ever met with a pole shoved up their ass sideways.

So what is the law about antique plates in CT?

My supra is a 1987. Born apr 1987.

Well, dmv in wethersfield are dicks. My friend went to the one in enfield I believe. Like I said, if you want to pass your car through emissions, bring it to Manchester on West Middle Turnpike (Exper-tech auto repair). They will take care of you. Their Phone number is 646-5969. If you decide to bring it there let me know when and I'll meet you at the shop. They've known me since I was 14 and all of my cars get serviced there. Trust me they wont screw with you, they will be 100% honest with you if they cant put it on the dyno.

Here in Ontario Canada they only make you do 2 idle tests if your car wont clear the rollers and you have to do i every two years like usual. i have had that problem as well and i have pulled the shop owner out as i would not let anyone drive my car in the bay as the clearance so he watched me pull it in the bay and out of the bay as well.
