My frind cj and I swapped the motor from my 89 supra + wiring harness and ecu into a 87 n/a I just bought. The body harness plugs into the 89 turbo ecu. The issue we're having is that when the battery is hooked up, the lights turn on, but do not flip up, and the horn on the firewall emits a weak, constant honk. Everything else appears to be normal though (gauges, light operation) I'm guessing the pinouts are different on the two years (in fact, i'm 99% certain they are). I'd appreciate any input anyone can give me. I've also been unable to find the pinouts from the 87 year model or the late 89 year model although I found 88 :icon_neut

info that may help:

the 89 car was made in jan. of 89. Has grey harness plugs. Has hydraulic engine mounts.

This rings a bell but it's been some time. If I recall correctly the problem lies in connector B1 (located near the ecu) but I forget the exact issue involved. It's a difference between the engine and body harness that results in a problem between the theft system and the headlight circuit, which need to be connected together for theft system control of the headlights. Anyway, the problem isn't difficult to resolve using the theft and headlight schematics. More bad news: You may find integration relay #2 has been fried and until you fix the problem any new one you install will also be destroyed so either unplug it or unplug B1 until you figure it out.

The same thing happened to me when I tried to use an 87-88 harness in my 89, headlights came on in the down position and the horn was a blowin'. There's a few wires that you need to switch around on the harness side of the big square plug. Use a tiny pick to release the metal clips from the plastic plug and put them in their corresponding holes so that you've basically color coordinated the harness side to the dash side(I think there's only about 4-5 wires you need to change). You should draw out some diagrams before you start so that you know what wire goes where if you decide to change it back.

Well, it's as if you were telling me what to do to solve my current situation. That's the way you worded your response. :dunno:

He's simply stating that he had a similar problem with a different year car.. Which in turn could be resolved in a similar fashion.
