need help with tach

I have a 9k 1g tach that I want to put in my mkiii. Does anyone here know how to do this?

you have to take out your factory tach, you need the clear plastic part of it to mount the tach into the USDM cluster. take off the needle, the gauge face, and the electronics from the back of the JDM mounting piece, and swap it all onto the USDM mounting piece. not too hard at all. ive got the same tach running on my car

You don't have to swap any electronics. Its a straight r & R. I have the same thing and it works fine.

probably didnt word my post very well

i just meant putting the 1G's tach electronics onto the USDM mouting piece(clear thingamadoohiky) i couldnt get the JDM mounting thing to fit in the spot in the gauge cluster

I did this with my 1j tach. All u need to do is unscrew the bolts that hold the tach in and use the usdm plastic part. There was 4 screws and one was for cruise which my 1j had a oil pressure light instead so that screw didn't line up but it still works. you will mount the tach onto the board with 3 screws and put ur 9k face on it.
