need help with heater vsv

im trying to get my heater working in my swap, cars an 88 supra with 1jz from a soarer. I have used the swap guide to get my car running, but im a little confused about the heater. im gonna go try and figure it out now, but any pointers would be helpful.

the heater system is independent of the motor is it not?

...tied into the engine harness though.
