There better be two if that thing is meant to go in a rad hose. If only one you need to ground the sensor body. Same when testing but that should have been intuitively obvious...

so run a ground wire off of the red housing?

i thought i would need something like that but no one said anythign about it when giving me directions for wiring this... lol.

There are two different sensors, one for the regular series one for the premium series

Usually sensors with only 1 wire are grounded from it's surroundings, ie whatever is is installed to...

Is there only one terminal on the sensor?

If so I'm not sure how it would get a ground being spliced into a radiator hose with that adaptor...

*got beaten to it!*

I believe the red housing is anodized, and that means it's non-conductive iirc, you would need to run a ground wire from a conductive point on the body of the sensor

Or just do it right, get a bushing, and install it pre-thermostat

yeah that worked. its dumb because there is no place to connect a ground wire to it but i will rig something up....

and i wish i had time to do it right but i dont. once i get me new car i will.

Thanks jetjock, the key is that I know what I don't know, so I don't speak it, more people should do that around here! :biglaugh:

Ha, even if it wasn't anodized, it's not like it has a ground path when it's only connected to a radiator hose

Btw, the cost of a new coolant hose, will outweigh the cost of just getting the bushing and doing it right the first time ;)
