need help, rear end noise

the rear end in my supra is making a loud winding noise when i am deceling, sounds kind of like an air raid siren, lol, anyone know what this would be? thanks

Incorrect backlash.

sounds like there is no preload on the pinion bearings, so the pinion is walking back and forth making noise on decel

Hey Matt, post a thread in parts wanted....or PM too_stand, he has a Supra junkyard and is real reasonable, I bought a diff from him for my red car last year. How's the black beauty been other than that? I wanted to pull mine out tomorrow, but we got a bunch of snow up here today.

An air raid siren is two gears in mesh being rotated together. So that is what you are hearing.
