I have an aftermarket water temp gauge here, it's electric. It came with a 1/8" NPT water temp sensor, I know that ours are different size, what can I do to get this working? I've never done this before and have no clue how to get started, the gauge is already in the cluster, I just need to hook up the wiring and the sender.

None of your fucking business
Power, ground and lights should all be easy to find in the dash. You'll need an adapter to fit the sensor into the t stat housing. Autometer sells these, I got mine from summit. You'll need the right thread pitch for whichever sensor you're eliminating on the t stat --> 1/8th npt.

Alrighty. I have one red, white, blue, black, and purple wire coming out from the gauge. Where do I wire these to and how do I go about doing so?

What brand? Any instructions?
The brand is Cyberdyne. It has instructions for the sender itself, but nothing about the wiring.

I'm just trying to get this to work TONIGHT, this is my only car and my dash is completely apart.

No identifying marks on the wires? Any pigtails on the sensor?
Nevermind, I see the link.

Where's a ground around the gauge area that the wire can be placed at?

Where can I hook up the red wire around the gauge area?

Same with the purple?

Now what about the sensor?

Anyone? I noticed that right by the stock sending unit there is a bolt that looks like it's plugging up a 1/8" hole, would that work for the sensor for the gauge?

I assume you have an N/A if you have that. Thats the port for the coolant feed for the turbo on gte engines. NO it is not 1/8npt. It is actually 1/4bsp, but once again you can use 1/4npt(tight fit wrong pitchbut works and WILL NOT leak). Ive done it before with no problems( I Used 1/4npt adapter for a custom -AN coolant loop I made which you can see in the pic below). So if you want to use that port get a 1/8npt female -------> 1/4npt male adapter.

I Posted help for you on supraforums as well:

Youll need a 1/8npt to 3/8bsp adapter. Since chances are your not gonna find a 3/8 bsp adapter, just use a 1/8npt to 3/8npt adapter(people will tell you 3/8npt is wrong, BUT TRUST ME, the fit is tight because of the wrong thread pitch but its works 100% no leaks, have done it plenty times) Make sure to use a little thread sealant. You can put in place of the bvsv valve thats on the thermostat housing(Has 2 vacum lines running to it). Obviously. the charcoal canister would operate properly then, but you can just get rid of it. Also if you dont have a/c you can remove wither the a/c fan switch or aux fan switch and put the 3/8 to 1/8 adapter in its place.

Here is what it would look like if you installed the sender and 1/8 to 3/8 adapter on the thermostat housing(look next to the green plug) :

(btw my thermostat housing was a jdm which is why it has 2 ports instead of 3.) :)

and here is a diagram of the water outlet housing and thermostat housing:

No, like have a temp reading without the sender. My friend did this, put the sensor somewhere around cylinder #3 on the side of the block.

No sender = No temp reading.
