It's my personal belief that taking out a loan on anything that isn't traditionally suppose to increase in value (read real estate) as silly. That's probably why I think taking out a loan to finance modifying a 16+ year old car as straight up dumb.

Don't live outside your means - It WILL more than likely come back and bite you in the arse sooner or later.

Also, what's the deal with you complaining about your domestic's fuel consumption? - If you think a 1/2jz is going to sip gas, you've got another thing coming my friend ;).

1,. i never said i wanted to build it and sell it,. im building the cars because i love the engineering,. and its just something i require in life,. :D,. also i love the supra community because everyone is nice and theirs a small econmy etc,. so ya, a loan for something that has major sedimental value is priceless,. live you're life reguardless of the cost,. if you dont live for something,. you will die for nothing,.

also the fuel consumption is way better than 10-14 MPG,. if u dont hammer on the car and drive the car normal u could see a nice 18-25 mpg,. so ya man, tell someone who cares

You should never spend money you don't have. Fix the BHG and take care of the engine, upgrade when you have enough money saved up that it won't clean out your bank account. If you take out a loan for a swap and then something goes wrong a little while later down the road, what are you going to do?

Saying your car has sentimental value shows you are not thinking clearly, upgrading your automobile is a hobby, you're spending money that you don't need to spend for simple pleasure. A loan is NOT priceless, and I have no idea what you mean by our small economy. I guess I better go check my supra stocks and see how they're doin.

DonS1mpson gave you great advice, as did lots of others in this thread. I suggest you take a step back and rethink taking out the loan, you will more than likely regret it. But if you don't want to listen to us, have fun being in debt, we'll be here to say "Told ya so" when you realize you made a mistake.

If you're taking out a loan just to keep a car on the road then you own the wrong car. Buy a Honda.

I don't think he meant a reliable "car" persay, more like a reliable engine to put in his Supra that he wants to make more reliable.

With 5-6k, I'd go with the 2jz.

first off, BUY AN ALREADY SWAPPED 1JZ/2JZ. you've never done this so you will be in for some hurt. these go for like 5-8k all the time. i know a guy selling a 2jz mkiii singled for 7k. just sell your supra and get that.

secondly i get better gas mileage with my 1jz then i get in my corolla. (non-wot)

3rd- dont get a loan. how much interest are you going to get charged?
