I actually patent such ideas, send me the idea and a signature and I will send you the patent certificate upon receiving. I'll cover shipping too:icon_bigg

For something beyond a preliminary patent, you will need to go to a good patent lawyer who has a good team to do a lot of research about your patent idea. It takes a long time and quite a bit of money to pass all the way through.

hid is correct, my old man owns a couple of patents, and it does take time and money to do it right. get good lawyer who knows the ins annd outs ao the system, expect to spend 10k.

keep away from the companies that promise to get you a patent and bring something to market for you most of these are scams.

with the time and money iinvolved, be shure your idea is actually marketable.a left wheel auto lugnut tightener specificaly for a nonurbo mk3 with a sport package prolly isn't gonna sell well.

my old man made this mistake on a conveyor set-up, it was a briliant design on paper, but not cost-effective outside of he compuer, the patents and protoypes bankrupted him.

yup.....a small time lawyer will tell you he can get you a patent for $400 in a few months. Truth be told, this is a very preliminary patent that is one step of the overall process but isnt the full patent. This just gets you in the door and proves that you had the idea looked at by an official at the date on the slip.
From there, they need to pursue the full patent that can take years and 10k-14k on average.

A patent is NOT cheap, your going to need like 10grand easy to get a patent. Also, it takes along time its not an over night thing. Better off going with a copy right on names and stuff.

On top of that most likely what ever your idea is, its prolly patent already. Some obscure patent will be close enough to yours that you cant patent something close to it.
