:1zhelp: OK so I just bought me a jza70 type R. A week later the clutch is dead! well im pretty sure.

Im finding it near imposible to find a clutch here in New Zealand, The only ones ive found have to be ordered in from overseas anyway and cost way to much.
Im still studying and the car is for normal street use for the next year or two so I dont want to spend a couple grand on a new clutch. A standard replacement will do.

I hear 7mgte cluch disks will work, however the clutch cover is a different enough that it wont fit? Could someone clarify please?

So where could I get a cheap clutch kit peoples? Really need to move the car
Thanks in advance

How sure are you of this? ive been told that the clutch disc will work but the pressure plate will not line up with the 1jzgte crank shaft:nono: .

If both the clutch and cover are the same then why dont any of the 7mgte clutch kits for sale on ebay mention that they would work for the 1jz-gte?

You couldnt possibly be using a 7mgte clutch and pressure plate on a genuine 1jzgte with factory R154 gearbox. Im not being an ass I just think you have your facts wrong:icon_bigg

What more proof do you need? There are plenty of Americans using 7M clutches (minus flywheel) on their 1JZ.:icon_razz

Really? then why doesnt anyone selling 7mgte clutch kits say it might be used for a 1jzgte? I know the 1jzgte manual is uncommon in the US but surely it would say. Excedy have different clutch kits for the jza70 supra and the 7mgte. They only do one single plate clutch for the jza70 and the 7mgte clutches never mention compatibility with 1jzgte.................does some one know for sure?

AAGGGGHHHH no way! Well ive spoken to two suppliers (aimcoclutch and a reputable parts place thats local) about compatibilityand they say there covers are different. Ive also asked countless clutch suppliers and rebuilders and theyv all quoted me different prices for 7mgte and 1jzgte clutches:aigo:

Im just trying to get to the bottom of this so I can buy a clutch!

The only reason prices for pressure plates may be different is because people like you pay for it.

The 7m pressure plate can be used on a 1jz flywheel.
