I recently put a custom 2.5 exhaust ( 2.5 Hi Flow Magnaflow Cat, 2.5 Vibrant Resonator, 2.5 Megan N1 muffler)
When I tested it, I had the silencer on as well.

1991 Supra
5-speed, JDM 7MGE
Engine is stock, plus a K&N drop in filter.

I have 15 days from now (10/22/08) to do a retest. What could be the problem? if it helps the o2 sensor is i believe the original.

JDM engines don't have an EGR system, auto fail in california...

you can retrofit EGR on, and try that..

also, are you sure it's a California ECU? I have a California gray plug 5 speed 89 ECU for sale...

and finally, we have 2 cats, make sure both 02 sensors are up and running..

and of course, make sure you've been running your car for atleast an hour before you go test it (and no I don't mean idling it)

do you have egr? check all your vacuum lines and test the egr modulator. make sure that your cat is really hot when you go back.

oh I forgot, the car originated from Illinois, so I only have 1 cat, and I remember my mechanic telling me to swapped everything smog related over, but to be sure can some one direct me to a picture of the egr, just to be sure.

Also I went to the smog shop right after school (Pasadena to Glendale) perhaps that could of been it. it was only a 20 minute drive. would this cause my NO to be insanely high?

Check the vacuum lines at the EGR to make sure they're good. Also, do you see a cloud behind you when you romp on it? That's what happened to me when one of my vacuum lines came off of the EGR.

Does the exhaust smell like rotten eggs? I had this symptom when I came to Texas. Even though I did not get any codes, my O2 sensor was bad. I borrowed a friend's for the re-test and then went and got a replacement when I found it was the problem. No need to invest in a new one, unless you know it's bad for sure. I think you can get 'em cheap enough though.

Checked the lines around and on the EGR, all hoes are intact, no rips or looseness.

No cloud when I romp on it, with or without the silencer, and no Rotten egg smell, btw I just got the custom exhaust about a week ago, since i had a major exhaust leak.

I'm thinking along the lines of a o2 sensor, anyone have any thoughts on Bosch?

I don't know what your problem could be but it is possible that it the EGR is clogged and your o2 sensor needs replaced... if your anywhere near culver city i use a mechanic that does complete smog repairs and he is really good and very nice. he had done all the repairs to the sentra i had out here and then said he will do all the repairs to my supra for a really affordable price. i will prob only use him as long as im out here. the place is called bobby's smog and it is on La Cienega and i trust him with my car.

Let me give you an example. when i got my sentra i had to get it smogged... when i did this the first time it was a gross polluter, everything was way off the charts and it was sucking gas like no other... I took it to him got an estimate (apx. $700) i got some of the stuff done ( cleaned the egr valves, replaced the o2 sensor, and got the timing readjusted) in total cost me $150, after that he said get the catalytic converter replaced ($70 parts and labor at a place called mexico muffler) i took it back to bobby to get a pretest and my car was now not only able to pass smog but the NOX was below .1 and the fuel was way down. with him that little sentra went from a gross polluter to something that didn't even have emissions (so to speak).

so yea if your around Culver city use him, he is really good, his address is 1789 S La Cienega Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90035 and his number is 310-204-0123. that would be my advice.
