Hey everyone.

I am at the point where the a340e auto tranny needs to be rebuild/replaced. My goal with this car is to maintain 400ish rwhp. This is a daily driver. My build link is in my signature if that helps.

After extensive research, here are my options as I see them:

1)
IPT Rebuild Tranny kit for $650
Torque Converter for $350
Labor for installation and rebuild $2k
Total: $3k & No warranty

2)
IPT Transmission $3300 (rated 600+ hp)
IPT Torque Converter $350
Labor to swap out trannys $500
Total: $4150, IPT Only 1 year warranty

3)
Performance Shop Total Rebuild Rated for up to 500hp for the a340e for $3000 (includes external filter, flush, and high stall torque converter)
Transmission removal/installation/swap for $800
Total: $3800, 3 year shop warranty

4)
Bang my head against the wall :1zhelp:

All feedback, further suggestions welcome!

Thanks in advance.

I swapped a low milage 1J Soarer auto trans in my car. Shimmed the accumulators and stuck a big ass cooler on it. Americanjebus is making 390rwhp on an auto with the same mods.

Is this swap plug and play? Any adapters needed?

Are the IJ autos more robust than the 7mgte ones?

Thanks.

Yes its PnP, is it more robust? I don't know but I would assume considering the power difference between the 7M and 1JZ that there may be some slight difference. There's going to be an unused connection on Trans near the bellhousing this is a secondary speed sensor for the torque converter, so ignore it. A list of things you will need or need to do if you use a Soarer 1J A342E trans.

-Swap 7M Bellhousing on
-Swap Supra Extension Housing on (Soarer housing is different)
-If your car has ABS and the trans you get does not, you need to swap the Speed Sensor rotor for the ABS Rotor, swap the ABS speed sensor on, along with the Harness plugs going to the Solenoids. This takes at most 25min.
-Swap 7M trans pan on (I didn't do this as a result the dipstick tube is in a different position, I ziptied mine in place, but using the 7M pan will allow it to be bolted into place like stock) May as well change the strainer while you're here
- JZ Torque Converter (You need a JZ converter the 7M will not fit, of course my trans came with it)
-The line pressure cable I've heard bolts up fine, however I didn't use the 1JZ cable mainly because it was frayed, so we swapped the 7M cable on. Took 5min tops.
- I used Toyota T-IV for ATF took roughly 6qts to fill it and an extra 1.2qts to fill it after the cooler install.
