About 2 weeks ago this problem started. everytime i come to a stop, or just get out of gear and coast in nuetral my car dies. If i give it gas it will stay alive till i let off the gas then it dies. If i restart the car, however, it will idle just fine. Untill i drive and come to a stop agian then it dies. Not sure what would cause this. When it does idle without dying it has a terrible idle. it idles around 400-500 and the whole car vibrates/shakes. One day out of the past two weeks it ran fine without stalling. The very next day the problem came back.. any ideas what would cause this to happen?

things that come to mind to check would be ISC, TPS, and afm. could those things cause this problem? Also, another issue with my idle. when my car is idlying the AFR's are extremely lean, like 17.9 or --- on the wideband, and i have the safc corrected +20% at idle and its still that lean. when i drive the car the AFR's are just fine, but why would idle be so lean??

Ok, but that wouldn't tell you if unmetered air is making its way into the system would it?

If my thinking is correct, the engine is only going to pull in a certain amount of vacuum at a specified rpm regardless of how many holes/openings it is pulling through. (Correction, it may pull more vacuum if it is struggling, but I don't think that is the case)

Correct me if I'm wrong lol

Did the problem start soon after speedo stopped working? :)

a broken speedo fails to send a speed signal to the ecu causing this exact issue....sometimes it stalls and some times to doesn't...almost a 50/50 chance....sound about right?

arent you the one that left the afm "loose" so you dont hit boost cut? IIRC you left a gap so more air bypassed the vortex path...

interesting tid bit about the speedo signal, didnt know that!

I believe it effects na supras most as it gave me these exact results when my cable broke and my friends turbo supra wasn't effected at all....but it's the first thing that came to my head as I made a thread similar to this and jdub or someone smart said it's my speedo and sure as shit I fixed it and BLAM problem solved:). Just so happens this dudes speedo isn't working so it makes sense to me.

Iv known alot of turbo supras with broken speedo's and they never had this problem.. also sorry i haven't checked codes or anything yet, its been snowing alot and really cold so i havent been out to work on it. Trying to gather as much info as i can so i can check/fix everything at once when i do work on it.

.......and why do you do this?

I could understand if he had a large turbo and a blow-through maft set up... I plan on running several layers of fine wire mesh right on the turbo inlet so nothing gets sucked in once I go maft. At least until I get my CAI built.

theres alot of turbo cars out there that arent running anything, or have mesh over the turbo. i originally took the filter off when i realize it was causing my car to hit fuel cut at like 6-8psi which is not normal at all for my mods and tune. filter off, the car hits fuel cut at 21-22psi. i have 3 boost settings, i have them set to 10psi 15psi 20psi.
