Hey guys I'm very new to the forums and really new to the supra world in general. Long story short is I bought a 89 Targa with 7mgte. 7m decided it wanted to spin a few bearings. Now im waiting to pick up my 1jz.

After spending every waking minute of being on this forum and other supra forums, I have yet to find a really good write up on the 7m-1jz swap.

The swap stuff ive purchased:

1jz with relocated oil sump and pan setup.
JDM R154 to replace my R154 that grinds 2nd gear
Stage 1 Clutch and flywheel.
and some other single turbo goodies.

The motor comes with all the stuff for the stock twins and with the wiring harness BUT does not have an ECU.

So far Ive seen posts that say wiring the 1jz in is SUPER easy and others that make it out to be over the top difficult. Ive also heard a few people talk about drilling a hole in the firewall and using the stock 1jz harness. i am willing to do anything necessary to do the swap right, but i do not have a full front clip. I would LIKE to have everything done as smoothly and quickly as possible but if that is not the case then so be it, if needed ill send the harnesses away and get them spliced together to make a functional harness that will work.

Also from what i understand i will need a MKIV TT Throttle cable, as well as MKIV TT Power Sterring Pressure Hose, and that the A/C will only work if i combine parts of each pump or something along the lines.

I will also need a new A/M Intercooler and piping.

This is the best information i could gather from the MANY different build threads i have read.

I have more than enough mechanical knowledge and tools to do the swap but im lacking a little of the information and thats whats really important before i dive in.

If anyone has anything to add that will come up that im probably not expecting or any information that will help, PLEASE post.

Thank you for your help.

Tim

What exactly are you confused about? One thing you should look for and consider is that there are different kind of 1jz's with different harnesses.

well thanks for your "help"

as i said before ive searched and could not find a detailed write up or how to on the swap. Many build threads highlighting peoples parts and if something goes wrong full of pictures and whatnot but again im not finding what im looking for. Maybe im not searching for the right things

as for things im confused about they were explained pretty clearly in my OP.

Im not asking anyone to write out their entire swap and post it here but shed some light on the things i asked about. i would not have posted if i could have found that stuff as easily as you make it out to be.

Thats the fun of this swap :biglaugh:
Believe me, not trying to be a dick, but if you cannot find this stuff...then I advise you not to do this swap, as you will run into lots of other little stuff.

Granted my swap is 2jz...but..
My swap total is around 10k right now, maybe more...its not cheap and can and will give you a headache.
I don't want to deter you from doing this swap, I just don't want you going into it thinking your engine is going to be shipped with instructions.
