need carburetor help!!

First off, i know almost nothing about carbs, besides the basics on how they function.

I have a 88 honda accord DX for a commuter, and it started acting up today.

it will idle, but when i jab at the throttle it kinda sputters higher rpms but then falls really low then goes back to idle.

if i fully depress the accel. pedal it will stutter like i described, but then raise up all the way to redline.

i took a look at the carb and the choke plate only opens this far when the throttle is fully pressed.

could there be some linkage that broke? or just a vaccuum leak i need to find? any help is appreciated!!

maybe its time for a carb rebuild? can pick up a kit at checker..napa or something.

Leaky float. Just get a rebuild kit.

rebuild, as that butterfly isn't directly controlled by the linkage... or at least use some carb cleaner on it first...
