So I've been starting up a local club - Club Motorsports (clubmotorsports.bz)

If you were an administrator in a car club, and you have a person wanting to join your club, with a hideous looking Honda Accord with the biggest assed wing you ever saw, I mean riced out as much as possible.

Do I let him join the club?

Am I being closed minded if I say I don't want that thing to represent our club?

Will I chase away true auto tuners by accepting him?

One of our club rules states: We do not disrespect another person's ride simply because of our different tastes. Am I being hypocritical if I tell him that his car is not the type of representation our club is looking for?

Looking forward to getting some feedback on this.

Different tastes is not the same as no taste... Also, how does this person act? Are they reckless and an overall idiot?

Not hypocritical with that justification lol. I'd say let him join anyways and see if he wants to leave on his own :naughty:.

I am being serious though, explain to him the type of representation your club is looking for and if he thinks he fits the description, let him in.

Like some people say around here, we have as much freedom to do what we want as the rest do to make fun of us for it. Who knows, maybe he'll stay and learn what tasteful means.

No, not really. More like he just doesn't know any better. The kind of guy that asks "Which one is faster, a car with a V6 or a car with a V8?"

Well the way I see it is. If you started a club you are putting your self in a role of leadership. You state that this guy doesn't know any better, shouldn't you help him learn better? Isn't that what a leader does. How is he supposed to learn? I didn't know shit when I joined this forum and Mike let me join as I am sure most of us were. I say quit being an elitist and teach the guy whats up. you were a Noob once.

Good advice and it's how I've approached my role here since becoming a Mod!

I'm with mattsplatt as well. If he just doesn't know any better, there's no harm in letting him join. You will be surprised how much the influence of good people will change how he views things (like his own car) and how much he knows, as well as how to properly apply that knowledge.

Ignorance is curable with education. Stupidity is forever. Which is he?

Yeah - if you need any help learning how to deal with things like this, try reading a few Dale Carnegie books - they are really detailed on how to handle stuff like this.

I say let him join, and be sure to treat him fairly.

Mattsplat got it right I think. As long as he's the question asking type he's clearly tryin to learn a bit....and he's gotta have some taste, he did ask to join you instead of lookin for some riced out beer cans.
Who knows maybe he'll catch that contagious bug known as supramania.
