Here's some vid of this weekend at VIR. This was my first event in group 2 and the pace is deffinitely faster. There are a lot of folks on race rubber in this group but the Supra did well and the instructor recommended I move to race tires soon.

Here's a couple vids:
Session 2: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3696049571127027062
Session 3: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4926882907686126727

Street tires, bolt on engine stuff (original 20 y/o internals ;) ) swaybars, bushings, eibach/tokico.

Wait, what game has VIR on it? I've gotta check that out. I've been jealous of West Coasters being able to drive a mk3 on Laguna Seca on GT4.

As far as racing, with NASA you'll need to work through the DE (High Performance Driver education) levels and then go through competition school for your license. I'm planning to go the time trial route (don't need comp. school but need all of DE experience) so you run for fastest lap against other classes.
For a NASA racing series, there's no big group (like Camaro/Mustang challenge or Honda challenge) for the Supra but it would probably fall into the mods based calss series in PTE or something similar.

Wow, this is great. That's my goal with my car. These guys come down to the Homestead. Fl speeway track 2-3 times a year, so does chinmotorsports. It's refreshing to see an MKIII doing some road racing.

Thanks, but this isn't racing yet, just HPDE. It'll be much faster when against the clock and on race tires. This is the training you go through to get experience for racing/time trials. I'm digging that spoiler turbogate, is that the whaletail style one?

Guru, How about the Trackdaze event in Nov? It's ~$175 and a single day for 4x30min. sessions. We're having a baby in early fall so I don't think I'll be able to do an event from Sept-Oct.
Cam is the Elura 100 but the res was set low to minimize the file size.
They're not too bad but do allow for a fair amount of roll in hard corners. I'm a fan of big bars and not so heavy springs but I'm working on a replacement. I can see them being more of a noticable hinderance on R' comps though.

A friend was there with me using a digi cam on movie mode. It actually made for pretty decent video just have to figure the mounting location (I'm using a plain c-clamp mount from ebay on the rear STB, no roll bar yet)

The Tacoma (98') does surprisingly well towing but I accelerate easy and don't tow more than ~3hrs. away (hills are tough since it's only ~190 ft-lb. with that V6)

The Trackdaze event is a Monday (Nov. 19th?) Last year it rained the first session but was 60+ and sunny the other 3 so not bad at all. 2 hrs of track time for that price is a bargain, especially at VIR :)

Ditto on the Eibachs. I could get you Megans for $950 shipped. Helped me a bunch the couple different places I've ran.
I missed the last NASA due to lack of good bushings.... AGAIN. Freakin bushings. So what HPDE class you in? You obviously moved up to group 2 right? Did you pass on to group3?

I'm in 2 (last event was first one in Gp. 2) I didn't ask when I could move to 3 but the instructor was asking about doing competition stuff. You gotta get good bushings, the nylons I have really made the car give much more feedback.
I'm working on a susp. setup, thought the Megans might be too heavy of a spring for me so I'm going a little softer (still not on R's but will be before too long)

Too heavy? No way. Is your car stripped out at all? Remember these are heavy cars and anything less will roll too much. I blasted Thunderhill in an independent event and the coilovers were great, no roll, no wheel pickup, the limiting factor there was definately the tires.

I've got exhaust, filter, AMS IC & 2.5" pipes, Techtom ecu, 550's/Lex/AFPR and an untuned MAFTPro at 9.6:1 AFR (haven't changed any settings yet) The bottom end is original w/ 190k, replaced rings about 6-7 years ago to reduce using oil while going to school. That patch job has held up pretty well. I'm hoping to finally build the spare this winter and have something with a fresh seal and all new wiring (still have some intermittant power issues at times)
