We are currently putting together a build and we have a few sets of cams lying around. It seems like I heard from someone before that using the NA cams in the 7mgte motor works rather well cause they have a longer intake duration. Is this true? Are there any advantages of running a set of NA cams over the turbo cams?

afaik, it only shifts the power-band lower in the RPMS

That's exactly what the NA cams do, and can be a hindrance to top end power.

If you search, you'll find me ranting about this quite a bit.

-It would have been far cheaper for Toyota to produce only one intake cam for both engines
-The N/A cam badly chokes the top end and kills the area under the curve (in other words, instead of having a nice broad torque band, it comes on hard then falls on it's face)

It's NOT an upgrade, if anything use the N/A cam as a core to get a regrind...
