Hey supra peoples, How goes it...Im new to the Supra community, just got my 87 Turb's last weekend....after waiting almost 2 years to find her....I gotsa question. I tore my trunk apart...got rid of the 900lb spare :), the carpet, and the Toyota Racing Plywood! I was just curious how much weight reduction actually matters...Like what does say 100lbs. translate to in quarter mile times? One of my friends claimed that for every 100lbs shaved off you drop around a 10th of a second...is this true? I was just wondering...cuz I'm thinkin about gettin rid of the A/C, Backseat..and some other stuff...but just wanted to know what kind of difference it makes.
Also, is it true that when runnin quarters it's faster in the supra to shift early...like before redline because it utilizes more torque? I read that somewhere, and I was curious wether or not it is true. I know very little, so thanks for enlightening me.
-Peace

from me removing spare tire and other worthless things, i felt a whole hell of a difference in the rear end when i was auto-crossing with my car, and its NA. so i couldnt imagine what it would be like with a T model.

I wouldn't recommend taking out a/c or powersteering...I did it, and while I can handle it and all, it's just not worth it for the gain you recieve. I would have much rather worked overtime at work for 12 grueling hours and bought something nice for my car. Now I have to work overtime just to buy out all the wonderful ps and a/c shit I threw away.

Thanks for the info. 2750 lbs wow! Thats alot of reduction... But my cars my daily driver :) Gotta drive 60 miles to school and back every day. Might as well do it with a smile on my face :) Thanks for the info Yawgmoth.. a few of my friends were tellin me to pull the a/c and power steering, and I wasnt sure if I really wanted to, now I deffinately wont. I probly wont be modding my car for awhile so I was just curious on the free mods..weight reduc and all. Just got her, and she'll need a MHG fairly soon (92k miles), and I plan on doing that before I do exhaust or anything. Thanks lots for the info guys

Replace all the bolts with titanium bolts and brackets and whatever you can with carbon fiber....Costs alot of money tho..

I am a big fan of keeping my car light with lots of power.

Cheers,
Roy

Where would you buy titanium bolts anyway? I suppose Home Depot doesn't stock them on a regular basis? :icon_razz

Yeah I'd doubt it. Maybe Menards...nt. You guys think I'd net an ok Hp increase from punchin out my cats? *Punches my black kitty* No but honestly umm I was thinkin about it, cuz I could care less about emissions and stuff (my car is for ummm off-road use only)...yeah thats it I drive 60 miles thru Lake Superior to school everyday yeah uhh huh. Im too poor to buy exhaust for now. I was rich til I bought my car. Then I was middle-class. Then I met my girlfriend. Now Im poor. But do you think I'd notice a diff with the honeycombs punched out?
